Megan Silberberger rushed the student in today's shooting in Marysville, Washington.
Student: Female teacher heroically stopped the shooter
Erick Cervantes is a student at the school who witnessed the shootings, from the events beforehand until the moment the gunman shot himself — after being confronted by a heroic woman, he told KIRO-TV.
Cervantes thought the woman was a "lunch lady" who worked at the school, but she was later identified as a first-year social studies teacher. Cevantes confirmed to Natasha Chen of KIRO-TV that teacher Megan Silberberger was the woman he saw in action.
“I believe she’s actuality the real hero. She’s the one that intercepted him with the gun. He tried either reloading or tried aiming at her. She tried moving his hand away and he tried shooting and shot himself in the neck,” Cervantes said.
She was a college soccer player and it looks like she later played for the women's team for the Northern Mariana Islands.

One thing don't know about me: Can talk about politics for hours with friends
I'm just amazed at her heroics. Who knows how many lives she saved.
Sat Oct 25, 2014 at 10:17 AM PT: I want to update that the current reports are that police are saying it was a cafeteria worker and not the teacher who intervened. Cafeteria worker or teacher, this person is still a hero. I'm sorry for the confusion. I should have waited until the story was reported by more than one source.
A cafeteria worker tried stopping a freshman homecoming prince who opened fire inside his Washington state high school, killing one person and injuring four others - including two of his relatives - before fatally shooting himself.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said in a statement today that it had finished its on-scene investigation of the shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, about 40 miles north of Seattle. Eyewitnesses and law enforcement sources identified the shooter as Jaylen Fryberg, a freshman at the school.
The Sheriff's Office didn't detail what the cafeteria worker did while attempting to stop Fryberg, 14.

Seattle Times
A union official told The Associated Press that first-year social studies teacher Megan Silberberger intervened in the shooting, confronting Fryberg when he was trying to reload.
Marysville Education Association president Randy Davis told the AP Saturday that he spoke briefly with Silberberger and is amazed by her actions.
