Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch brings the crazy eyes of intense Republican dishonesty to the subject of equal pay. Kleefisch's task is to put a woman's face on Gov. Scott Walker's effort to get voters to forget that he
repealed Wisconsin's equal pay law. Let's take a listen, shall we?
My dad used to take me to work with him. He told me I could do anything. That's why I find it so insulting that Mary Burke would say that we're trying to make it harder for women to earn equal pay.
Hi there, non sequitur! Because your dad said you could do anything, it's insulting to correctly observe that you're part of an administration that rolled back equal pay protections? Because that is what happened. Republicans don't get to pretend that repealing an equal pay law is
not part of an effort to make it harder for women to earn equal pay, unless of course we've completely parted ways with reality.
Under Scott Walker, workplace discrimination will always be illegal, for any reason.
Pay discrimination is illegal under federal law, so yes, it will be illegal under Scott Walker. As governor, he can't do anything about federal law. But the Wisconsin law that went beyond the federal government's 50-year-old equal pay law? That, Walker could and did do away with.
Mary Burke wants to create more opportunities to sue.
If a woman is being discriminated against illegally, isn't suing an appropriate response? Are women supposed to sit back and hope that Scott Walker will step in and protect them from discrimination? (Take a second for a hearty guffaw there if you'd like.) Why wouldn't employers discriminate if they know they're unlikely to face real penalties for it, what with Walker making it harder for women to sue.
We want to create more opportunities for women to succeed.
Taking
Walker's minimum wage logic to equal pay by suggesting that
wanting is as important as doing. If Walker and Kleefisch
want women to do better, voters aren't supposed to care that in reality they're making it more difficult.
Please give Mary Burke $3 to help get out the vote against Scott Walker.

Wisconsin women shouldn't have to worry what rights their governor will take away next.
