I am so very tired of whoever is controlling, or more accurately who is NOT controlling, Democrats. I've railed against Democrats as many others had for their complete disarray, uncontrolled messaging and communications, and for the utter lack of a backbone on principles since the second month of Obama's first term.
Ruling democratic leaders who are able to be fired or replaced, unless they resign, should be. I place A LOT of blame at the foot of Obama who wasted away an energetic base and new voting groups because he had no spine and failed to believe that Republicans really did want to run the country off the road as they said they would. Congressional members repeatedly fail to stand behind the policies he was elected in and he acted like a petulant child who'd rather go to his room and shut the door than fight back.
And hey: Take a look a DailyKos! 48 hours after taking it on the chin, what fills the scroll? Whether Obama called Cantor a few months ago, Dkos poll results vs. predictions, more crazies entering congress, climate warming, blah blah blah. How about putting the feet to the fire for why Democrats are a dwindling minority despite having majority positions?!?! Who's running this website? SHIFT STRATEGY!
Republicans, led by grassroots and later by astroturf, took their 2008 loses, licked their wounds and demanded their party shift hard right in order to reenergize the base. Democrats watched as the tea party was born, as scandals like ACORN and numerous other BS issues circulated, and they did....absolutely....nothing.
I am ashamed to be a Democrat. My guess is that millions of others are to and their response, unlike mine, was to stay home Tuesday. All I hear are promises, platitudes, and finding common ground with Republicans. Didn't work in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and not so far in 2014. Grow some balls Democratic leadership or step aside and let people who aren't afraid to jump in the mud pit and fling mud harder and faster than the creeps on the right.
Is that democracy? Well, it sure as hell is nowadays. You get dirty, you sling mud, or you get repeatedly walked over and nothing gets done. And while Democrats shouldn't get all the blame, they will because they seemingly are unwilling to fight for what the country wants. Public option, gun control, voting rights, immigration, job packages, infrastructure, etc. Why in hell should someone send their ballot in and support Democrats if they know it won't make a damn difference? Well...?
This is a demoralizing loss. And I have yet to read how things are changing. Clean house. If you don't resign, you are fired. All strategists. Clean house, make a hard shift left, galvanize the millions of people you've lost, and start FIGHTING. For the 99% of reasons Tuesday sucked, I did have one thought - maybe now we can get things done. I hate that I think that because Republicans took control. Obama and this party have squandered an amazing opportunity for the country.
I want to be a part of a political party that is tough, fights for principles, and delivers. Since 2008, Democrats have given me ZERO of that.
