From this mornings press conference.
Press question by Luke Russert:
"Speaker Boehner there's talk in some of your conference that any Bill to fund the government must have language in it [poison pills] that would prohibit the President from moving executive orders pertaining to immigration. Do you support that language?"
Republican speaker of the house of congress John Boehner:
"You know the President is threatening uh.. to take unilateral action um.. on immigration ..even though in the past he's made clear he didn't believe he had the constitutional responsibility or authority..uh to do that.
And uh.. I'll just say this ..uh we're going to fight the President..uh tooth and nail if he goes down this path. This is the wrong way to govern. This is exactly what the American people said on election they didn't want..and ah..so uh..all the options are on the table. We're having discussions with out members and there are no decisions have been made as to how we will fight this if he proceeds."
Russert:
"A government funding Bill could have that strict language; you're leaving that option open?
Boehner:
"All options are on the table. We're gunna.. having conversations with our members, and when we have a decision we'll let you know."
Follow up question form another reporter:
"You said earlier that a government shutdown should be off the table. A government shutdown is not good for the party or the country...'
Boehner interrupts the questioner loudly:
"OUR GOAL HERE..Our goal here is to stop the President..uh..from violating his own oath of office and from violating the constitution. It's not to shut down the government"
Question:
"Do you believe there is a mechanism by which you can to stop him?"
Boehner:
"Uh..we are looking at uh.. all options on the table uh..that are... our goal here is to stop the President from doing this."
Question:
"Do you think you can though?
Boehner:
"Well, we'll find out."
Question:
"What other options are you looking at?
Boehner:
"Well.. ya know, every administration needs this and needs that, needs all kinds of things. And uh..ya know, if he wants to go off on his own, there are things that he's just not going to get. Nice to see you all."
Iow's nothing but more hostage taking as Mitch McConnell touted when in the minority;default and government shutdowns etc.
Remember this? Mitch McConnell on defaulting on the debt:
"It's a hostage worth ransoming"
with one more video @ link as
Mitch McConnell explains that extortion will be the "new "template" for the republicans
So in addition to bald face lying (which I wrote about at the end of this post), it sounds like we're right on track for those poison pill riders McConnell promised on every spending Bill the republicans can get their hands around. Another default on the debt ceiling crisis; maybe another down grade following that with another round of government shut down idiocy.
I have to say this kind of surprised me. Not that the GOP wouldn't further debase themselves, but that they would lose it this quickly; "poisoning their own already fouled, well" and their ill gotten majority this time and hoping, again, to have Dems take the blame for the next republican shutdown.
- good luck with that;. and the Ted-Ernst-Cruz nuts job faction helping out - lol
Immigration Do it. It's the perfect good thing to do. Student debt and a whole lot more. This fight opens many doors for access and windows for much needed light to shine
:)
Just one more thing from this morning November 13, 2014 over the orange gerrymander
Here is Mitch McConnell showing his "privilege" as he tries to explain lie his way into having people believe that it was himself that who wanted legislative action on immigration because Presidential executive actions are not laws on the books and can be reversed with a new President.
Something that President Obama has been saying year after year and why the President wanted congress to take on immigration instead of exercising Presidential executive authority.
The hypocrisy and dishonestly is stunning:
(short ad - sorry)

Sorry about that. As distasteful as it is to see the lying and all the rest of the low down shenanigans that goes on in the congress, both upper and lower chamber, it's our job to bring it out in the open - imo
H/T to Kossack jamess for digging up this next story:
What would Ronald Reagan say about Obama's immigration order today? How about 'Good move'? - by Meteor Blades | June 15, 2012
Amnesty was a big part of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 that Reagan signed two years later. As a consequence, 2.9 million undocumented workers came out of the shadows and legally became what they already were in spirit: U.S. citizens.

They have obviously "put down roots" here. Deporting them to the countries of their birth—places where many of them don't speak the language or understand the culture and often have no affinity for at all—is profoundly cruel punishment, penalized for a crime they didn't commit by the government of the country that is their home.
But, as Republicans have proved by opposing the DREAM Act, they are perfectly willing to thumb their nose at Reagan when it suits their purpose.
PS. and about jobs. McConnell saw fit to block an energy efficient Bill that would have produced
190 thousand jobs and saved $16.2 billion a year
