A crappy Election Day can't take away wins like this.
8:53 PM PT (Steve Singiser): Minnesota: One smallish bright spot for Democrats is that the party has, thus far, held serve at the federal level. Al Franken won his Senate race in what amounted to a rout. But, more surprisingly, Democrats Collin Peterson (MN-07) and Rick Nolan (MN-08) are hanging on with about half the vote.
8:55 PM PT (Steve Singiser): ME-Gov: Wow. CBS News has projected that Paul LePage has held on to win re-election with 47 percent of the vote. Democrat Mike Michaud wound up with 44 percent. Eliot Cutler stands at 9 percent.
8:57 PM PT (Steve Singiser): West Virginia: Earlier we reported that the state House there went Democrat in a huge shift. What's worse? The state Senate, where Dems enjoyed a 24-10 edge going into the night? It apparently is tied now.
8:58 PM PT (Steve Singiser): MD-Gov: Wow. The buffet of suck has been replenished.
Wow. Biggest surprise of night? #mdgov RT @ABC7Brad:

8:59 PM PT (Steve Singiser): VA-Sen: When this is your good news of the night...
9:03 PM PT (Steve Singiser): House: Two more official calls, in opposite directions for the Democrats. Democrats have officially given NH-01 back to the GOP, as Frank Guinta scored a narrow in. But they have held onto MN-07, as veteran Rep. Collin Peterson turned back a strong challenger in Republican Torrey Westrom.
9:06 PM PT (Steve Singiser): VT-Gov: Well, we did not get runoffs in Georgia, but we get one in ... Vermont? With most of the vote in, incumbent Democratic Gov. Peter Shumlin only leads 47-45 over Republican Scott Milne. According to state law, the governor will now be chosen by the legislature. Shumlin probably emerges from that vote as the winner, in any event.
9:09 PM PT (Steve Singiser): UT-04: Want a genuine shocker, given the Democratic seats that have been lost tonight? Democrats have a shot at holding this uber-red seat in Utah. Democrat Doug Owens leads Republican Mia Love 51-45 with about a third of the vote tallied.
9:13 PM PT (Barbara Morrill): New thread here.
