Come oh come ye tea-thirsty restless ones -- the kettle boils, bubbles and sings, musically.

Good evening, Kibitzers! My beautiful Japanese maples have finally turned colors, so tonight we have a soothing diary of fall foliage, with coffee and cake in the thread. It might be kind of quiet -- actually, that might be good, because people out celebrating is our desired outcome. Just promise that, whatever happens, we will all come back tomorrow (or maybe next week) and keep working. We may win or lose a particular election, but the other side never stops trying, and we mustn't either.
The players, who are all siblings because these trees seed themselves everywhere:
This one hangs out with Baby Pine Tree.
Since I didn't get a good closeup of the red tree this year, this picture from October 2012 is both pretty and interesting to compare. This was just before Hurricane Sandy. Look how tiny Baby Tree was in the shade of its rather abusive parent, which was soon to squash the neighbors' car:

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
