A small county out of the eighty-eight in Ohio managed a small victory for the public good.
I've seen the signs zup in various yards and houses, even in front of the Republican headquarters across from my workplace. It won by barely a hundred votes, but it won.
“I’m very happy the levy passed,” said Mike Ruhe, Executive Director of the Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Board of Putnam County. He thanked both the Mental Health and Pathway boards and different social service agencies for their work in supporting the levy.
Ruhe said the renewal-plus levy on Tuesday’s ballot will allow the board to maintain and expand local community health and addiction services. The board requested the renewal-plus levy to avoid possible regionalization and reduction in services.
The funds will be used to continue existing services and provide matching funds for state and federal grant opportunities.
As someone whose been relying on Pathways to get back on track life speaking, I'm happy my community supported this small part of the country's General Welfare.
We might have been whooped last night, but keep holding on to the small victories.
