The Supreme Court is going to hear a case on the legality of ACA subsidies and we need to act fast. Put up the biggest stink you can. I don't trust this court as far as I can throw them.
I am still really angry from Tuesday and now about the Court. This argument needs to be couched in the idea of people vs. personhood. I am not a lawyer but I think that it is completely unfair to contend that a corporation is a person and it can be subsidized but an actual person cannot get a subsidy for something that is potentially life saving. This is insane. Especially since we end up paying for everything anyway.
Also just a few thoughts, if corporations are people then they should be treated exactly as people. They should have to pay taxes, they should have a lifespan and if their actions are illegal or result in the death of a person or multiple people, then they should be tried and if found guilty they should be executed. (Just see how fast the death penalty would go away if we applied the same standard to both). We cannot let this stand. We need to start sounding the bell now. Some smart lawyers have to argue against the end of subsidies for corporations if they insist on the end of subsidies for people. It is the people who pay for the subsidies and so the people should also benefit from the subsidies.
I plan to write to my Senators and my new(rw) rep as soon as possible. You all need to do the same and the media has to get on this too. Put the pressure on.
