The words "Obamacare" and "Nigger" have become interchangeable.
History will prove that racial bigots represented the only mob available in 2009 that the Corporate Right had to tap for support once their moderate voters proved too moderate to keep the Democrats from exercising their growing majority.
Those bosses, particularly the med and health insurance profiteers who engineered the outrageous cost explosion in those industries, saw the ACA coming down the pike and knew if they did not find a way to control that natural political flow to the center, it was only a matter of time before REAL regulations with executive teeth were leveled at them, intended to protect We, the People from their dangerous Earth-polluting and sustenance-draining greed.
So they stirred up that hateful, race-challenged mob that heretofore was considered the crazy, prejudiced Aunt and Uncle at family gatherings, and gave their ringleaders rare authority within Republican ranks, which in the past only happened in the deep south. And it lost them the Senate control they now claim for two election cycles before they could herd that mob effectively.
But because they could not just cut that mob loose on the process spouting the N word that they love to spit out, all the while waving the Stars and Bars, they took the ACA and turned it into some sort of boogeyman, and via their drive-time thought-reform mouthpieces like Rush, Coulter, Beck, et al, they pounded in the illogical but incendiary concept that healthcare for millions of Americans was somehow evil.
Compassion for their fellow Americans had somehow become fiscal malfeasance, and a program to bring comfort to suffering and struggling Americans was framed as some sort of strange commie/fascist chimera, all brought on by the nigger from Kenya with a fake birth certificate.
So now, instead of spouting overt racist epithets, which that mob had been doing behind their closed doors all their lives, they had that handy new word "Obamacare" to spit out contemptuously as if they had a hair on their tongues, so they couldn't be so easily accused of their obvious bigotry.
But there is simply no doubt that at the core of the Tea Mob psyche, racism rules.
Maybe not in the moderate and even the traditional conservative Republican ranks, but there is no doubt that in the Tea Mob ranks that first showed up at the Koch-sponsored anti-Obamacare rallies, the real motivation was racial contempt and, yes, hatred. All you need do is find photos of those rallies and you can see the strained, red-faced, mouth agape hatred on the faces of those Tea Mob members.
Anyone who claims healthcare for millions could ever actually draw that kind of real ire and abject loathing is either naive or complicit. It was really just an ignorant mass, what we have forever labeled a "mob," venting their prejudice but controlled by their puppetmasters so they didn't say the word(s) that matched the hatred.
Instead they repeated anti-Obamacare talking points with the same deep loathing, but without the same old words.
Whenever they screamed, red-faced and frantic in their antagonism "Obamacare" it was just another way of saying "NIGGER."
While moderate Republicans, unwilling to admit their own complicity in enabling and unleashing this mob of bigots on their own party, may puff-up in personal indignation at the suggestion they might be doing just that, anyone outside looking in, whether Democrat or Independent or just non-aligned and non-political, sees it clearly because it is so flagrant.
Here's a recent Salon article that talks a bit more about it. I hope some of you who felt that personal indignation I just mentioned will take the time to read it. While I doubt it will make you change your behavior, I do not doubt that it will prick your insulated delusions.
The Truth is hard to deny, in the depths of a person's soul.
