The question that ran through my mind today was.......
What's your favourite position? We all have one.
Oh. Let me help you with that...I meant for sleeping ! You lot. I dunno what I'm gonna do with you!
Angie in WA State got me thinking about this with her diary this morning for CUA (Connect! Unite! Act!) when she asked if we were day timers or night owls. While thinking about tonight's diary, the question that crossed my mind was how we sleep.
Hop over the orange curlicue of comfort for more....
I'm a side girl. Any position will do, except on my stomach; that's never been comfortable to me for sleeping. Any other will do...I usually start out on my back or slightly on my side, but always wake up on my side! It's the darndest thing...no matter how small or large the bed, I always wake up on (usually) my right side.
There's an interesting piece about sleeping positions and personality type. I'm a Foetus or Thinker. I'm also a "spooner"...but I prefer to be the spoon-er rather than the spoon-ee. Keeps my hair out of his face, keeps his arm from going to sleep, and I can move easily to accommodate the cat. Because, as we all know...the cat must be accommodated.
We also like certain positions for reading, don't we? I read in bed a lot, which makes me a...wait for it...librocubiculorist. Neat word, huh? There is an old blue wingchair that is also a favourite spot for reading. I read most of Stephen King and all of Harry Potter in that chair! And, of course, the recliner is comfy for almost everything...except reading. It's almost too comfy, and I tend to fall asleep when I read there.
How about you? Got a favourite chair, sofa, bit of floor? Can you read while lying on your stomach? How???
And every now and then, it becomes meal time. Home cooked, takeaway, delivery or leftovers....do you gather around a table? Do you prefer TV tables? Lap trays??
I still like sitting at a regular dining table...or kitchen table (how do you think I wound up here?) but I also like the lap tray I was given as a gift years ago. It has a bottom like a bean bag, so it conforms to my lap and keeps me from dumping my meal on the floor. Oh, yeah...that happened. siiiiiiiigh.
So, kids....what's your favourite position?
Gather round and kibitz about any old thing you want to. I just kickstart it...you guys drive it.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
