And here I thought they'd sue the school district for negligence, but that was not to be. Instead......
A law firm representing the families of ten of the 26 people killed and a teacher injured at the Sandy Hook Elementary School says it has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer, distributor and seller of the rifle used in the shooting.
The negligence and wrongful death lawsuit asserts that the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle should not have been made publicly available because it is a military weapon unsuited for civilian use.
In addition to Bushmaster, the families have named Camfour, a firearm distributor, and Riverview Gun Sales, the store where the Bushmaster rifle was purchased in 2010. Messages seeking comment from the defendants were not immediately returned.
The 40-page complaint was filed in superior court in Bridgeport.

The complaint says the gun allows shooters to inflict "unparalleled civilian carnage."
"In order to continue profiting from the sale of AR-15s, defendants chose to disregard the unreasonable risks the rifle posed outside of specialized, highly regulated institutions like the armed forces and law enforcement," the plaintiffs wrote in the complaint.

The parents also made an appearance in Hartford in a call to end gun violence.
"This two-year anniversary is a call to action," Blumenthal said during a morning news conference in the Capitol complex. "We are building to mobilize grassroots organizations. We can make sure love wins."
"There is no reason why we shouldn't be taking steps forward for something like mental health first aid," Murphy said. "The next fight has already begun."
"There is a growing number of groups that will carry heavy political weight going into the next election cycle," Blumenthal said.

One of the parents, Jimmy Greene, held a memorial jazz concert for his daughter Ana Marquez-Greene ~
Marquez-Greene invited the audience to share the range of emotions they and other families of those 26 murdered in the school have felt during the 721 days since the shooting.
"Her death leaves us with anger, sadness, frustration and deep longing, but her life was so beautiful," she said. "Her faith, her memory inspires great joy, great hope and great love. There are bad days and there are worse days, and on the worst days you pray for a bad day. You have prayed, you have rallied, you have raised money, you have held us while we cried and you have fed us," she joked. "And that's really important because you know how much we like to eat."
