I bet many of you still aren't quite through with your Christmas & Holiday shopping or you're still looking for a little treat for yourself. Maybe I can help!
For those of you who don't know me, I have an internet shop on Etsy - Willie Ru Designs where I sell scarves, cowls, shawls & purses that I make by hand. I also make custom pillows, poufs & afghans & am open to trying my hand at about anything - involving yarn or fabric...
I've been crocheting most of my life. My mother taught me as a child, using string & my finger. I'm a leftie so I learned sitting across from her & watching her movements. She also taught me embroidery & how to sew. Her name was Willis Ruby & my company, Willie Ru Designs, is named for her.
I am also lucky to share my life with 2 Airedale Terriers - Julia & Sam, a rescue. They keep me smiling!
I looked at the Kos Katalogue I wrote at this time last year & realized very little has changed at least with Willie Ru. Personally, I had to move & thanks to all of you for helping make that possible. I am still unpacking! So as I am running late again this year I'm going to repeat a lot of what I've written before. But first, let me share with you some of my favorite new creations.
Multi Color Crochet Cowl
Marigold (or Kos) Orange Scarf
Can you tell I love fringe?
Unisex Teal & Black Mobius Cowl
Gray, Pink, Black & White Scarf
Fringed Neckwarmer
More of this style are in my shop in solid colors or I'd be glad to make one for you in a color of your choice - but probably not before Christmas.
In case you couldn't tell, I love to crochet! I find it relaxing & stimulating at the same time. I can't wait to finish a project just to see what it looks like. Often, the idea I start with isn't the same one I end with. Many of my creations have a Plan B, Plan C and sometimes it goes on and on until I like what I see. I rarely use patterns because I change my mind as I go along. I tend to jot down my own design instructions on little pieces of scrap paper or old envelopes that I may never find again, or if I do, have no idea what they mean.
I have a weakness for the unique & one-of-a-kind & handmade. Always have. This also translates into my yarns. I love handspun & hand dyed yarns. I love supporting other women owned small businesses who make a living spinning & dying yarn. It may cost a little more but we all need to support each other.
I love vivid, intense colors & texture. I love the unexpected. I like high quality materials to work with which doesn't necessarily mean expensive but it needs to hold up with wear & time. I love fun & functional accessories & that's what my creations are all about.
I've been crocheting like crazy to fill up my Etsy shop so please head over there & do some shopping. There are many more pretty things for gifts or for yourself. Please check out my shop, Willie Ru Designs & help a starving artist!
And one more thing - please don't forget the Kos Katalogue Mothership diary for listings of all the talented Kossacks. Support each other & get some unique, wonderful gifts!
Thanks for reading & don't forget to shop at Willie Ru Designs!
