Bobby Keys was the saxophone player with the Rolling Stones since 1969. He died last night at age 70.
He is on every album the Stones made from 1970-1974 and from 1980 on. He played on every Stones tour since 1970. He is one of the saxophone players you have heard the most throughout your life.
As one passionate for Jazz music, I tend to have rather high standards for sax players. I'm from NJ, but have no real love for Clarence Clemens, though I know people who met the man and had nothing but nice things to say about him.
Bobby Keys is easily one of the greatest sax players to record on major rock and roll albums. "Best" is subjective....but he was damn good
he recorded with Joe Cocker, Delaney and Bonny and Friends, Clapton, and this relative unknown.....
Rest In Peace Bobby.
At least Keith outlived Twinkies...though Lemmy will out live Keith....
