Tonight's guests are Dave Grohl on The Daily Show and Christopher Nolan on The Colbert Report.
Dave Grohl was the drummer for the band Nirvana, drummer and co-founder of the rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, written all the music and performed all the instruments for his side projects Late! and Probot, as well as being involved with Queens of the Stone Age and of course he is the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, main songwriter and founder of the band Foo Fighters. In other words, he is one busy dude.
Tonight he is on to promote the latest Foo Fighters project, Sonic Highways which is both a
TV documentary series and an
album. Did I mention he is one very busy dude?
Sonic Highways commemorates the Foo Fighters 20th anniversary by documenting the eight-city recording odyssey that produced their latest, and eighth, studio album.
Foo Fighters have confirmed that the making of their upcoming eighth album--due out this fall on Roswell/RCA--will be accompanied by an as yet untitled HBO series documenting the eight-city odyssey during which the record was created.
In the series, directed by FF founder Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters tap into the musical heritage and cultural fabric of eight cities--Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC and New York--basing themselves at a legendary studios integral to the unique history and character of each location.
One song was recorded in each city, every song featuring local legends sitting in, and every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process.
It sounds good. I have always enjoyed the Foo Fighters and Grohl who seems to be one of the most down to earth rock stars out there today.
Christopher Nolan is a writer and director, best known for Memento, the latest Batman franchise, and Inception. Tonight he is on to promote his latest movie
Interstellar
In the near future, Earth has been devastated by drought and famine, causing a scarcity in food and extreme changes in climate. When humanity is facing extinction, a mysterious rip in the space-time continuum is discovered, giving mankind the opportunity to widen its lifespan. A group of explorers must travel beyond our solar system in search of a planet that can sustain life. The crew of the Endurance are required to think bigger and go further than any human in history as they embark on an interstellar voyage into the unknown. Coop, the pilot of the Endurance, must decide between seeing his children again and the future of the human race.
This movie has garnered some amazing reviews and is actually something I want to see.
