Information for anyone interested in vaporizing herbs or tobacco, but who, haven't got a clue about what vaporizers are.
Vaporizers
✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯
Thanks Everyone♥ Your Advice About Vaporizer Pens/Vaporizers, was right on! As, always.
I initially, purchased, the Arizer V-Tower.
Arizer-ExtremeQ Vaporizer vapor.com
Arizer Vaporizers; are manufactured, in Canada. Closest to US made I could find. They offer the best prices and warranty.
Now two years later, I need a spare, so I bought the ExtremeQ also.
For a portable; I like, the, Arizer Solo.
I'll start with the short version; then, anyone who has the interest or the time to read it can scroll down to my synopsis, enjoy my entire story and the many new, great links I found.
As I said in previous diaries; my HUD; $95 a month rent, duplex apartment/housing went smoke free.
They never sent out notices and no one told me, until a new manager was hired.
Then; just like that, I was immediately ordered/supposed to stop smoking in the apartment.
She said, if she smells smoke again, she's was going to evict me. Even though smoking was allowed, five years ago when I moved in.
They changed the rules. Apparently they're allowed to do this, or not?
Can you imagine; me, almost out maneuvered?
I knew where to run and ask for help though, to Kossacks.
I told you I'd keep you all updated as to what happened. I didn't get evicted.
I took a Kossack's advice and purchased a vaporizer to vaporize my tobacco.
I complied with their demand to not smoke on the property. I met one of the Building Owner's in court. He was their Lawyer! Owner; coincidentally, also happens to be a Lawyer. (So convenient). I recognized him from around the buildings, town and the manager called him "Counselor".
Now; my Landlord, knows me personally, not just by reputation, thus joining the crowd, of those who love me. Of course, some others don't.
I went to Court Sept 21st. I gave the Building Owner a copy of the paid receipt for my vaporizer. We shook hands and the building manager, even gave me a ride home.
It took a lot of effort, finding a vaporizer that works with loose tobacco and then figuring out, how to use it correctly.
All in the middle of a hot as heck summer and an eviction threat drama, but I did it. I finally succeeded!
When I get angry, I can do anything. I am a very tolerant person, until something gets me mad.
Then I go into, Ninja ✰ Street Lawyer Mode!
I researched; composed and gave the Building Owner, an 8 page statement about why they had no case legally.
But the owners had me at, smoking is a big fire hazard.
I live around; mostly, very elderly senior citizens, who would be impossibly hard to evacuate.
I do not want to set any kind of legal precedent. Either one; that people can smoke, or not smoke, either. Yeah; I wasn't touching this one, for sure.
But I did want, to help set one precedent. One, that recognizes vaporizing as being allowed in all non-smoking residences. Even in Federally assisted, HUD Housing, (where I live).
That's what is says the Court ruled on the legal paper, the building owner and I signed. That vaporizing is allowed. So that's good.
I was easy to convince. I'm a Fireman's Daughter.
I've been smoking since 1967. I hate cigarettes by now.
I hate how much they cost.
I hate the ashes that fly all over the place. I was starting to feel like Cinderella here.
I hated worrying all the time if I was setting the place on fire.
With the advice of Kossacks, we win again.
I know how smart everyone here is. I'm not stupid.
If you know me, you know I fly around very fast, a lot.
I forgot to ask; "what exactly is, a vaporizer pen and where do you get one?" (I'd heard of them vaguely years ago).
So; I was off. With my first clue and with the help of Google, (who just turned 16♥ September 27), I started Googleing vaporizer pens that work with loose tobacco.
•*¨*•♫Happy Belated Birthday Google•*¨*•♫
What I Learned
First of all; anyone wanting to vaporize should discuss it with their Doctor.
Have a physical etc.
Especially with the liquid (e-juice) vaporizers. For nicotine, the e-juice pens are the easiest to use but have caused allergic reactions to some people. Because the e-juice liquid has glycerine and alcohol in it.
I can't use e-cigs or e-juice vaporizer pens because I'm seriously allergic to glycerine (I get boils). Good thing I didn't try them.
I don't even drink. I had my gallbladder removed in 2003 and am very allergic to any kind of alcohol and have many food allergies too.
♥♥♥ After over five months of researching; housing law, vaporizers, vaporizer pens, talking to, getting to know vaporizer retailers, having watched at least 20 video reviews, tutorials, read websites, warranties, guarantees, purchased and returned three pens, read numerous reviews and much more.
I found out that; all vaporizers, are not, suitable for heavy tobacco use.
ie, The pens, are really made to use with cannabis and other light density herbs.
From my experience, the dry herb pens work, ok, for a light smoker.
A person who smokes 5 to 10 cigarettes a day. (Like someone who wants to step out in a work situation and grab a quick 15-20 puffs, and doesn't want to smell like cigarettes afterward, who doesn't have the time, or want to smoke an entire cigarette).
Besides cannabis, this is another use for the vaporizer pens.
Dry herb vaporizer pens will not work well for someone who constantly needs tobacco/nicotine vapor on demand, people who smoke a pack and a half a day.
Vaporizer pens usually run on batteries. The batteries stay charged, aprox one hour.
More expensive pens have a battery charge of 3 hours.
Battery charge is not long enough for a heavy, pack a day plus smoker.
They all take 4 to 5 hours to re-charge and one has to press a button every time they want a couple of puffs.
They say the charge lasts for 1,000 puffs. That's with cannabis or the e-juice.
Not my experience with tobacco.
There are lots of good, cheaper vaporizer pens for just cannabis.
Almost any one will work with marijuana.
Some of the less expensive dry herb pens, are really going to mostly combust the herb. That's ok too. At least there's no toxic paper, or fire hazard and way less smell.
I'm still learning how to use this vaporizer, so looked and saw that the screen was totally clogged with the fine sooty stuff.
Coil the hose and cover with warm tap water in a large food type container to clean, soak, etc. *You have to keep those little screens that fit in the elbow adapter (glass part on top) clean or you won't get any puffs.
I clean my screens and whips by first remove screen in whip part, then put them in an antibacterial, plain denture cleaner, a tab or two, overnight in hot tap water.
But this was not removing baked on gunk.
So; I also, use the corner of a small nail cleaning tool to scrape the gunked up residue left in the screens. Then, a small piece, of paper towel twisted at corner to totally get all the residue off. Twisting it in, until all the gunk comes off. If the elbow screens aren't kept clean, no puffs can get through.
If you can see light through the screen, it's ok. Not seeing anything, it needs cleaning.
Ignore the other screens in the herb bowl. I finally switched mine after two years of vaping. Just cleaning works on them.
I have 3 of the whips with elbow adapters. They have to be cleaned all the time, Remove screens from adapter when cleaning and clean www.vapor.com/... in container. So inside of the whip gets clean too.
I always have one soaking and drying. i just bought some extra screens for the whips too.
Now I have enough to switch easily several times a day.
I use two whip set up's a day. I Switch to a clean one when I stop getting good puffs and it looks gunked up.
Only remove the little cup shaped round screen for cleaning in the glass elbow adapter part. I broke an elbow adapter, trying to remove it, from the whip/hose.
If the V Tower is used with tobacco, the whip/hose is going to get stained. Nothing will get rid of it. So no point in removing the elbow adapter to clean.
The elbow adapter is the only truly fragile glass part. Unless you drop the others on a stone floor or something.
Other cleaners (even some that say natural), have isopropyl alcohol in them.
I'm allergic. Wouldn't use that anyway.
Make sure you pour all the water out of the hose before drying.
Vaporizing 411 These are the techniques and temperatures from my research, that I've been using. I have included links with instructions. Temperatures may vary by type of vaporizer used. Pen vs Tower types.
For Marijuana Grind. Temperature about 440f. Place bowl with herb, about 1/4 to 1/2 full, on heating element.
Stir with glass wand, let heat for about 5 seconds and puff. Take a few puffs and lower the temperature down lower, depending on how much herb you put in the bowl.
When visible vapor puffs stop, stir and more puffs. Repeat stirring and continue-until no more puffs.
Up to 100 puffs per joint counted. I save previously vaped cannabis and put a pinch on top of a fresh bowl, to add volume.
Vaporizing cannabis is easy. Grind the herb, put in bowl, let heat for 1 minute and puff, big clouds of vapor (depending on how much cannabis you put in and how high you set the temperature).
Low is better. Herb lasts longer. More puffs.
Important! Tobacco has to be very, very, very, dry. Otherwise the moisture, lowers the core temperature of the tobacco.
Which impairs the vaporization process that works through heating.
Tobacco; Fill bowl about 1/2 to 3/4 full. Wait about 1 minute and puff. Should get up to 30 puffs.
Again, I'm still learning how to do this part.
Empty bowl, scrape elbow screen with stirrer and refill.
Tobacco has different density than cannabis. That's why it vaporizes differently.
I vaporize tobacco at about 445f. From my learning experience here, the temperature kind of depends on how dry and fine the tobacco is. I just experiment up and down the the temperatures till I get puffs, or not. It's convection/conduction heat.

Always, check your sellers warranties and return policies. Read Instruction Manuel.
With the Arizer V Tower, There's an air vent at the bottom of the V Tower. Do Not Block The Airflow. For instance. Don't put the vaporizer on a tablecloth. I had that problem. Puffing ever so slightly pulled the tablecloth over the air vent.
I got rid of tablecloth and now I get good puffs.
Don't put essential oils in your aroma therapy bowl.
Only dried herbs or flowered potpourri. It say's you could. But that's the old model.
Only thing I put in my aroma therapy bowl is some dried crushed sage. Flowered potpourri too fragrant. I don’t like it near my tobacco, etc.
Also needed are a square sized, pot holder. Depending on your table surface a hot pad or a couple of cotton place mats to sit the bowl on when filling is also needed.
The $1/99cent store has them in the housewares aisle. The glass bowl and adapter, get hot.
Too hot to touch. But not flammable. Still it will melt plastic.
Only cotton is best. 2 large plastic food containers to soak and clean whip hoses, etc. Again, $1/99cent store.
A bottle of lemon juice.
The only tobacco I found that works is the "American Spirit Original Blend", powder blue package.
It's a medium-light tobacco. Heavier tobaccos were too hard to vaporize.
At the cost of over $400 a month; buying factory manufactured cigarettes (pack, carton, etc); it had gotten to the point that it was becoming, a choice between food and cigarettes.
Food was winning.
Then my building going smoke free, pushed cigarettes way to the back of the line.
I'm sick of the smoke, the smell, the carcinogens, the whole thing, with cigarettes.
Thankfully Kossacks were there to help me out.
I was just going to fight the property owners in court.
Smoking was allowed when I moved in.
This is so much better. Kossacks know everything.
They also told me it wasn't worth fighting in court.
Now I'm smoke free and I am; once again, the winner Now; I am "the ideal tenant, a non smoker". I am welcome anywhere.
Landlord-Tenant Laws in Your State Total.
So now; five months later, I've been re-programmed as a non-smoker. (I still get my nicotine. I just vaporize it).
I could have Stockholm syndrome too. I get that a lot.
Property manager broke scores of laws all along.
But you know; when they own the property, they can try it on, (as we say in NJ).
It works for me. I've been trying to quit smoking cigarettes for at least the past 20 years.
I buy a canister of American Spirit loose tobacco, for $32.95. The canister should last at least a month or longer. It's over 5 ounces.
Compared to a carton of cigarettes that costs $60 and doesn't last a week even. I'll save about $3,000 a year vaporizing loose tobacco vs smoking factory manufactured cigarettes. Good reason to vaporize.
I've read that there's some discussion out there; about which is better, smoking (combusting) cannabis, or vaporizing it?
IMO vaporizing it is better. Vaporizing with tobacco, it's kind of just like using an enclosed pipe. You get visible puffs of vapor. But it's different. One has to actually puff it, where with cigarettes it's automatic. One learns patience vaporizing tobacco.
Vaporizing with cannabis is what vaporizers were really meant for!
Vaporizer video reviews showing people getting huge clouds of smoke, is, because they're smoking cannabis, not tobacco.
Vaporizers release significantly more Cannabinoids from the marijuana without the need for combustion and without the waste that comes with burning.
Combusted smoke contains up to 88% non-cannabinoid material where vaped weed is made up of 95% cannabinoids.
You get much more puffs vaporizing rather than combusitng cannabis.
75% more puffs.
With combustion, you burn the herb. It's gone. Vaporizing works like a convection oven. It heats the herb, releases the oils into a vapor. The vapor stays in the vaporizer hose, until you draw/puff on it.
In a vaporizer with heat control. You set the chamber for the amount of vapor you want by adjusting the temperature.
Also; you don't get lethargic, weak and the high is elevated to a stronger level.
I don't know if I'm doing it correctly or not, I get good vapor at 445f with tobacco. About 430f for cannabis or other herbs.
This advice really applies to tobacco. To dry tobacco, I just leave my canister open and pour 2 days amount onto a paper plate.
Like this guy says paper has chemicals. With cannabis, just let whatever you want to use, out for an hour or so.
To grind, make cannabis fine enough so it's not a large bud. Cannabis is so light compared to tobacco.
Synopsis
My HUD housing complex went smoke free. I moved in with smoking allowed. Now I've been told I am no longer allowed to smoke in the apt and on the property.
So, for the past three months I've had a building manager inspecting every couple of weeks.
Every time; she says "I smell smoke, if I smell smoke the next time I'm here, I'm going to evict you." I was like, "what"???
Well they did it, the Sheriff was at my door! Showed up on a fri night, at 5:30pm.
The property manager had given me a notice to quit 30 days previously.
My advice to anyone If a landlord gives you a "Notice To Quit", that's the 30 day notice of eviction.
Lawyer up immediately! In 30 days the Sheriff will be at your door with an eviction notice, then you'll have aprox 3 or 4 days to bring or overnight mail the court a completed form, called a "ticket to appear" which says you'll be at the hearing.
Also the landlord could file any place in the state he owns property. ie 60 miles away.
So; besides returning the ticket to appear to the Court you could also have to send, what's called a "change of venue" request to be able to go to the Court in your immediate area. (mail overnight guaranteed mail $20 US Post Office, return receipt required).
If you don't return these forms to the court by the date on the summons, they will come and padlock your apartment, throw you out immediately and you'll have to fight to get your possessions.
You also; have to send your landlord copies of these forms, certified mail, return receipt requested too.
Oh yeah the forms are not included with the summons.
Always; in any legal situation, just get a Lawyer immediately.
Tricky part they pulled on me was, they filed in a town 40 miles away.
I had a Seniors Lawyer, recommended by my local Seniors Center.
They are a 501 funding is low and they are very busy.
So she could only advise me and mediate a little. This was an easy case since I was complying.
Not just as fast as property management wanted me to.
This Lawyer sent me the forms and talked the Senior Center Lady through showing me how to fill them out and send them.
It's not whether one knows they have a winning case or not, it's the technicalities of the law, are what trips one up.
You got to have a Lawyer! Unless you can't get a Lawyer, never pro say (do it yourself) a case. Old saying; "He who acts as his own Lawyer, has a fool for a client."
It all started here; Updated Is There A Lawyer In The House???
With a side addendum here You Can't Judge A Book By Looking At The Cover
Then it morphed into this, The Healing Properties Of Cannabis-Medical Marijuana Needs To Be Legalized Nationally And Federally
I also Googled quite a few "how to stop smoking" websites.
I heard that people who start vaporizing often are able to stop smoking tobacco completely.
I feel much better already. Smoking is dirty and passe'.
Not having to worry if I'm burning the apartment down when I go out or to sleep at night, is "Priceless"!
Conclusion Buying a vaporizer is a little investment up front, but saves a lot in the long run.
The V Tower, works well, with tobacco. Don’t grind the tobacco just put a pinch or two, in the bowl. Vape at 445. The most important things are, that tobacco is very dry and elbow adapter and it's screen are kept clean.
Jonathan; at Vapor Nation Customer service, said sometimes it takes people a couple of days to learn how to use it. It took me, 3 months! But I'm getting, good puffs now.
For cannabis the V Tower works perfectly. If you still have trouble with vaporizing tobacco after following all my instructions *you wont' have any with cannabis).
Vapor Nation offers a guaranteed tutorial to help new users with learning how to use any of the vaporizers they sell. If interested. It's called Vape Squad Membership. But it costs $59.99.
I don't know if vaporizing would satisfy every tobacco user.
I only smoked ultra-light cigarettes and they were too strong for me.
I couldn't breath half the time.
It took me a month or two in order to stop craving the other many chemicals in factory manufactured cigarettes.
I found out that "Good And Plenty" candy, in particular helps stop the cravings for cigarettes.
I wanted to share this with everyone.
I kept googling and finally found two great retailers for vaporizers.
I also learned that not all Vaporizer Companies/Sellers/Stores are the same either.
I wanted to share, this honest vaporizer company VaporNation now called vapor.com.
All the salespeople are so nice and helpful. We've become friends.
It's a personal choice, if one wants to spend over $200 (with spare parts, etc).
I am just a satisfied customer. And I support small business.
★★★★★Vapor.com, Great Sales, good warranty.
A really cool company.
I got 20% off V Tower so it only cost $119.99 and had free shipping.
I got, free gifts too.
Vapor.com, Also Has a 10% Back-Merchandise Purchase Rewards Program.
I knew I was spending $120 and I would own this vaporizer. But by then, I was pretty confident in knowing what doesn't work with tobacco.
I trepidatiously kept my fingers crossed.
I told myself "If this doesn't work with tobacco. I'm going into an in-patient re-hab, I need a rest. I've had it with cigarettes." I have Medicare and Medicaid.
Arizer is a good product. With Vapor.com, 20% off sale, V Tower kept me from getting evicted
Anyone interested should call these companies and ask questions.
They will be happy to answer them.
What a task, finding a vaporizer that works with tobacco and then having to figure out how to get it to work!
