So finally the report is out on what the CIA has been up to:
- We killed detainees as due to interrogation techniques
- What we did was more brutal and cruel than previously known
- They used techniques that were not approved for use
- CIA didn't get that much if any useful information from interrogations
- CIA Lied to Congress and White House about that effectiveness
- The 2 main interrogators had no real experience in doing what they did and the culture and information on language that they needed
- People who were not suspects or guilty of anything were interrogated
President Bush, VP Cheney, AG Gonzalez knew in one way or the other about the torture.
Now what is interesting is the response. Of course the chickenhawk neoconservatives call it all a lie. If you go to the various news sites or blogs the right wingers say that at least they are doing something instead of the wimpy President we have now.
How can we call Muslim's that cut off heads, torture American citizens or others "terrorists" or "barbarians" if we do the same things to others? In fact they learned some of their techniques from what was done to them. If we can say they deserve it because of what they did on 911, then can't they say it for invading Iraq and Afghanistan? The bombers were mainly from Saudi Arabia were they not? And Bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan was he not? President Bush gave up on Bin Laden and instead invaded Iraq for what reason?
And after all, did all the interrogations help find and kill Bin Laden? No, again NO! It was after President Obama came in and ended the practices of torture with great criticism from the right that Bin Laden was found and killed by the US. So again the right has a great ability to rationalize and lie when it comes to their past failed policies. They still have a great problem with being truthful though.
