Despite voters’ apparent unhappiness with the GOP governor, the poll suggests his successor will be a fellow Republican.
Democratic state Rep. John Bel Edwards, of Amite, is running against Sen. David Vitter, R-La., and Republican Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne for governor next year. Term limits prevent Jindal from running.
The majority of poll participants were unfamiliar with Edwards.

Rancho is recalling more than 8.7 million pounds of beef products after regulators said that it processed diseased and unhealthy animals without a full inspection. The USDA says the products were unfit for human consumption. No illnesses have been reported.
Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown has parted ways with Fox News, fueling further suggestion that he is seriously considering a Senate run in New Hampshire. [...]
The cable station signed Brown as a political commentator last February. His contract would end if he formed a committee to explore a Senate bid, another Fox News representative had said in December, according to the Globe.
- Unvaccinated man exposed thousands in the Bay Area to measles. In 1941, there were 508,000 cases of measles in the United States and 432 people died from it. Thanks to vaccinations, in 2013, 187 U.S. cases of measles were reported and nobody died here from the disease. But 158 000 people, mostly children, died worldwise from measles in 2011. Large numbers of adults in the U.S. haven't been vaccinated and remain vulnerable to the highly contagious disease:
California health officials are warning that thousands of state residents were potentially exposed to measles after an unvaccinated individual commuted on Bay Area Rapid Transit, or BART, during rush hour. BART is the fifth most used public transportation system in the country, transporting about 400,000 riders each workday.
The man in question is a college student who likely contracted measles during a recent trip to Asia. The virus, which can remain in the air for up to two hours, was probably present on trains that moved throughout the Bay Area.
