The GOP has engaged in a shocking degree of sabotage. Un-American, seditious, treasonous, sabotage. They have conspired to undermine the laws of the land. They have conspired to subvert the basic functions of government. They have conspired to delegitimize and to destroy the sitting President of the United States. They have attacked our economy and slowed our recovery, they have specifically and egregiously attempted to undermine the Foreign Policy of the President. If you think I’m engaging in hyperbole, if you think this is just business as usual, if you think that what the GOP is doing is typical in anyway rather than an unprecedented attempt to damage this country, the best I can say to you is that you are wrong. You have bought into the myth that the GOP as it currently exists is a political party. They aren’t. What they are is a hate group disguised as a political machine. They are a collection of robber barons, masquerading as a political party. The GOP has fallen, they have destroyed themselves in their zeal to destroy President Obama, and the consequences for that, even if mainstream media can’t see it, is coming. They used to call this moment when some degree of justice was served, when the whirlwind tuned on those who abused the masses a reckoning. That’s what we’re seeing form, an old fashioned Reckoning. He GOP as a party is dead. They have committed suicide.
Whether you agree fully with my above assessment or not, we do know a few simple things that are -- objectively speaking – true. The GOP is obsessed with ObamaCare. They have gone to absurd levels of insanity to defund, delay, undermine, and destroy the law. Get a Republican in a room, off the record, and ask them why they hate ObamaCare and they don’t have a good reason. Not only that the reasons they do have are almost all demonstrably untrue. They have been brainwashed that the law does things it doesn’t, won’t accomplish things, it already has, and they – the GOP – are unwilling, even in the face of neutral, objective, testimony, to believe anything good about the law.
We know this. Everyone knows this. So when the CBO report comes out last week, and it says the 2.5 million people are going to be leaving the workforce as a result of ObamaCare, and the GOP starts calling its contacts in the media and spinning, why on earth would a credible person report, repeat, or be swayed by what the GOP said. Let me ask a broader question. If the GOP lied about the polls in the 2012 elections, why would they tell the truth about the polls in 2014? If the GOP has yet to produce one anecdote about ObamaCare that has withstood scrutiny, why – during the response to the State of the Union – would anyone believe the anecdote produced by the GOP?
The GOP has lied or misled, or fabricated, or simply denied objective truths/facts, on a host of issues. First they argued that the President was Muslim. Then they argued that the President wasn’t born in the United States. Let’s examine those two fabrications for a second. This was not a fringe element of the party making the argument that they didn’t know the religion of the President. This was a deliberate attempt to Other the President, an attempt to dehumanize him, and to create a circumstance where something that was clearly untrue would damage his chance to be elected or to govern once he was.
Here is the point of rehashing these insanities and inanities from the Right. When a group of people demonstrate themselves to be completely devoid of reason or integrity or rationality, as the GOP has clearly done – especially on matters involving President Obama or ObamaCare – it becomes incumbent on the part of a media to be skeptical, to be aggressively skeptical of any claims from the GOP. So when the CBO report comes out and the GOP started claiming it was going to cost 2.5 million people jobs. No legitimate media should have reported that. No legitimate media should have entertained the possibility that their version of events was even someone possibly true.
Off the top of my head I can think of ten times the GOP has lied about ObamaCare in the last three months. Can’t you. So my question is why can’t Chuck Todd? Why can’t Luke Russert? Why on earth would any media source that respects itself listen to the GOP talk about ObamaCare or President Obama?
