Boo friggin hoo.
Kelly Rindfleisch's sister is out there attacking the original John Doe Probe for "ruining" her sisters life.
Rindfleisch, out pending her appeal, was convicted of misconduct in office in the original John Doe Probe. She was using government offices, a secret router and private email accounts, to do campaign work on taxpayer time when she should have been doing Milwaukee County business.
In a letter to the editor of the Baraboo News Republic, Anne Hollinsed said her sister can't get a job because of the probe. Sources have said Rindfleisch is now the subject of a second investigation.
"Kelly’s life has been ruined by the hatred of Scott Walker in this state," Hollinsed wrote in the Friday letter. "She can’t find employment because of the overreaching single felony conviction she received by a Democratic judge."
She concluded: "The overreach in this case is alarming and downright scary when a government worker can be convicted of something so miniscule to satisfy the agenda of those who've made political warfare their top priority."
Reached Friday, Hollinsed confirmed that she wrote the letter in response to an earlier piece in the Baraboo paper critical of Rindfleisch. But Hollinsed said she could not answer other questions because she was working.
(bolding is mine)
That's right. Kelly Rindfleisch is really a victim of Democrats, those who "hate" Scott Walker, and the felonies she committed were "miniscule" and trumped up to "satisfy a political agenda". And now, sniff, she can't get a job.
But don't ask the letter-writing sister any questions about her claims. She's too busy to answer them.
Nevermind that what Rindfleisch did repeatedly was a FELONY. We pesky taxpayers don't like the offices and salaries we pay for being used for politics, fundraising, and campaigns. We provide those offices and salaries so government business can be done.
Nevermind the recent document dump showed her forwarding some of the most vile and racist email you can imagine which compared welfare recipients to dogs and insulted disabled people.
Nevermind that this was not the first time she had abused a government position with the exact same kind of misconduct. She was up to her ears in this during the Caucus Scandal in the 1990s where State Legislators were shamefully exposed using their office staff for political work. Rindfleisch escaped charges then by a grant of immunity in return for her cooperation. Despite that history, Walker happily hired her to work in his Milwaukee County Executive office.
Nevermind that this time she refused to cooperate in the investigation, actively tried to avoid prosecution (even claiming that her previous immunity deal provided her immunity for her activities a decade or two in the future), tried to move the court case to a more, shall we say, "Republican friendly" county, and was found to actually be living outside of Milwaukee County during the time she received a County paycheck and was, therefore, required to live in the County.
Nevermind that her sentence was lightened as a result of a plea bargain and that she was allowed to remain free pending her appeal. Republican US Attorney Steven Biscupik wasn't so nice when he demanded the immediate incarceration of a woman wrongly prosecuted and convicted of doing her job so it could be presented as a "Democratic scandal" during former Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyles re-election campaign. It failed to impact the election and an appellate court found the charges so phony that they demanded the womans immediate release pending her (successful) appeal.
Nope. Forget all that. Focus on her as a victim and not a perpetrator. Don't think of her as a wrongdoer, think of how this has affected her life. Grab your tissues to dry your eyes.
There ARE consequences to committing a felony. Ask former bank robbers, drug dealers, car thieves, or anyone convicted of a crime how easy it is to get a job, access a ballot, or do any of the many things law-abiding citizens take for granted when you have a past criminal record.
Don't bother asking Republicans to make any of that easier either no matter how much someone has rehabilitated themselves. Scott Walker is so tough on crime he hasn't issued a single pardon and has no plans to issue any no matter how worthy the person is. They like to appear to be "tough on crime". Yup. Unless it's one of them who commits the crime. Then they cry like babies that they're being persecuted for political reasons.
Cry me a river.
