CANdemonium is a unique food charity event where local teams, mentored by architect and engineering professionals, compete to build and design giant structures made entirely from cans of food. All of the canned food used in the structures is donated to the Missoula, Montana, Food Bank. Shown below are photos of some of the structures which were on display at the Southgate Mall.

Lego of Hunger:
Mike CANzowski:
“What’s scarier than Monsters? Childhood hunger. And Mike CANzowski has his eye on a good secure Missoula where all kinds have enough to eat.”
Working Together:
“This structure is based on Minecraft, the computer game in which the player can build new worlds and imaginative objects, as well as fight nocturnal monsters. By depicting a child’s lunchbox, and some contents, we are demonstrating we will ‘CAN Childhood Hunger.’”
Building Together:
“We are partnering to ‘Help Feed the Hungry” and building healthier generations to come. Our structure represents how we should unite to ‘help’ and ‘care’ for one another within our community. We chose foods that are part of the basic ‘building blocks’ of a healthy nutritional diet that will help children grow strong minds and bodies.”
Snow More Hunger:
The Hungry Duckling:
“Too many children in our community are growing up without enough nutritious food to eat. Missoula Food Band and MMW’s structure is inspired by those youngest and most courageous among us who, even when faced with the threats of hunger, remain resilient and afloat. 1 in 3 people in need of emergency food assistance in our community are kids. Together, we can make sure every child in the Missoula area has the food they need to grow up nourished, healthy and strong.”
