Our home.
The
Church of the Holy Shitters does not believe in life after death as it is traditionally thought of. We leave that to your spiritual religion to provide you guidance in this area. But is it possible that a person can continue to exist after their death here on Earth physically?
Since our Church is a natural one, we do not believe in a spiritual soul. We do not believe you automatically exist as an entity after your life here on Earth is finished.
But, we do believe it possible that a person can attain a kind of everlasting natural life. Let me explain.
Modern medicine has been doing some fabulous things recently. Researchers are successfully building biodegradable scaffolds and seeding them with cells from a patient to make organs such as bladders and livers. Artificial retinas are being developed using the latest in optic technology. Stem cell research gives the hope and promise in the not too distant future of significantly renewing, rejuvenating, or outright replacing many worn out body parts. That is what is happening here on Earth.
Now let's broaden this thinking out into our universe. We believe we are not the only living creatures in the universe. That is just ass-backward to think that way. It is also logical to assume that there are higher intelligences out there. So if we are capable of doing such marvelous medical wonders here on Earth, what might other creatures be capable of doing? Could it be possible that somebody out there already has the capability of completely and perpetually "saving" a physical life? We think it highly likely.
Is anybody out there?
Assuming that someone out there in our universe has the capability of perpetually rejuvenating a person to the extent that death can be forestalled indefinitely what might be its implications?
In this scenario life everlasting is not guaranteed. Maybe the powers that be decide you have only earned X number of years more to live before you perish. Maybe you have to have the resources to pay for the work. Maybe there is a panel that decides if you are worthy of special dispensation.
Timeline of the universe.
What would be the criteria for making the cut? Who would be significant enough to keep around indefinitely? Possibly, individuals with superior intelligence would be worth preserving. Maybe those that have a particular skill greatly in demand in the universe would be kept alive. Maybe if one has led a sufficiently moral life they deserve to be continued. Perhaps, taking things to the darker side, you are viewed as being sufficiently evil enough to warrant salvation. Maybe there are multiple entities in multiple locations, elongating people’s lives for multiple reasons.
One thing is for sure. Under this scenario you would have to be viewed as valuable by somebody else sufficiently enough to warrant the special consideration.
Are there higher and lower universes?
Faith-based religious humans, conditioned to think they hold a special status in the universe, tend to assume that life after death is guaranteed. They think this because they believe they have an indestructible soul that automatically exists after physical death.
A merit based natural religion such as that practiced by the Church of the Holy Shitters has no such belief. It’s a nice comforting thought, however, to think it possible to prolong one’s physical life through some kind of meritocracy.
Is anybody watching?
The Church of the Holy Shitters will post articles on our holy S.H.I.T. day ( So Happy It's Thursday)
Last week: 3/20/14 - Ten Thoughts on "Human Nature"
Next week: 4/3/14 - God and Beer?
Hoping to add some humor, provoke thought, spark debate, deepen understanding, and shed some light on the fecal side.
Remember: "If we really want to straighten out all this crap we really need to think about shit." ( Shitbit by Poop John the First of the Church of the Holy Shitters)
Church of the Holy Shitters
A secular environmental religion, scientifically based, with a focus on the psychology of it all. Our ego is the culprit when it comes to dealing with climate change. We cannot save the planet. We can only save ourselves. Our current egotistical self-perception makes that prospect a dubious one at best. Meekness, humility and a realization that our shit does stink, guides us on our path to true sustainable living and climate equilibrium.
