THREE RISING STARS IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY: DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ, AND JULIAN AND JOAQUIN CASTRO! HEY, AND LET`S NOT FORGET WENDY DAVIS!!
Of course we all remember ex-Gov. Ann Richards’ of Texas failed re-election bid in 1994, Texas Democrats attempted to build well-financed statewide campaigns around candidates with star power — and all came up short.
Now, the Lone Star State has a stable of Democratic rising stars not seen since the days of its last liberal lion. How far can we go?
Last time I checked on my ole Texas blue bonnet landscape, things were looking up, with long-awaited demographic changes taking place as we speak, and not only my beloved blue bonnets turn bluer with each passing summer, democrats now have the fire power of new stars, to turn the whole mega lone star state blue.
On the other side of polilitcal divide, the Republican Party has potentially inflicted self-lethal damage to itself for the future in this cycle’s election battles when stupidity which is their calling card sent their ace
to pitch his looney-tunes comedy by insulting president Obama by calling him names, bad names. He call him, like "subhuman mongrel" and shit.
So embarrassing was "nut case" Ted Nugent for Texas Republicans that others got wind of his stupidity and even in deepest East Texas, one city is wary of rocker-turned-campaigner Ted Nugent. Nugent called Longview Mayor Jay Dean “racist,” “clueless” and “dishonest” Saturday, after the city paid $16,000 to ditch the idea of Nugent headlining the city 4th of July Fireworks and Freedom Celebration.
In others words, even in deepest racist East Texas, crazy Ted was paid $16, 000 to get lost and not appear for headlining the city 4th of July Fireworks and Freedom Celebration. In Ted Nugent`s view, everyone not NRA white is a racist, umm except him. Just look at him waving his peace makers and voter suppression laws.
Just as we cannot forget ex-Gov. Ann Richards failed re-election in 1994, me, in particular cannot forget that the Texas abortion bill pushed by Republican Governor Rick Perry failed after Sen. Wendy Davis' filibuster killed it on its tracks. Yeah, I know, you too remember.
I never tired of watching from so far away the strength and determination of this Democratic woman Wendy Davis. When I saw Davis filibustering, I thought of women politicians across the US who are fighting long and hard to protect their constituents.
I like to imagine in my mind Wendy Davis crashing the walls of Rick Perry`s Republican strong hold in Texas and with the signal of victory following her filibuster killing the abortion bill, and not dog whistles like the Republican`s use. Texas in my mind is going blue fast. Perhaps we may not be so lucky this elections cycle, but blue Texas is coming to town. We have asserted that over and over. It is worth repeating today.
An example on how our Democratic party in Texas is becoming a party to reckon with by the Republicans, is Democratic women in politics - a thing never before seen as today. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, although is a congresswoman from Florida, tells me
that Republicans are hearing them loud and clear against their war on women.
And do we remember Sandra Fluke? Yes that one who Rusho to the clappings of the crazies, cheered when he called her a slut on national televison. I just can`t wait for her to toss her (fill in blank) into the political arena for some office where she can kick some ass that is long in coming.
But I think Texans, as Democrats striving to take an advantage against the Republicans and the Koch brothers, no only do we need voters to turn out to vote, and money in my opinion sometimes fails. Take the Obama president victory. Money was no issue, voters were. So with that in mind, a backup plan would be lethal against the Republican money machine in Texas. I speak of a twin double-wammy to the gut. Twins that are followed like flies by Democratic voters throughout Texas, as if both bathed in honey. A nightmare for Republicans. So if you are in Texas, listen to the advise of Cecilia Balli, just below:
So how about a double wammy in Texas?
The Castro Brothers Are Rosie’s Boys, But They Have a Different Story of America
In 1995, as a freshman at Stanford, I watched two Texans two years above me land the highest number of votes in the race for student senate. They were identical twins, no less, a fact that made for a catchy story in the school paper (“Twin Senators Not Two Close for Comfort”) and a portrait of the smiling, newly minted politicians clad in khakis and polo-style shirts, sitting back-to-back on the floor of the Stanford Quad. It seemed Julián and Joaquin Castro had grasped a critical lesson my sister and I had learned running for our junior high student council: Being a twin pays in politics because it doubles your publicity and votes-and people love twins. - by Cecilia Balli. Do I need to say more?
