From Politco:
Democrats serving on the Benghazi Committee made a lot of noise in todays hearing over the issuing of a subpoena to parade the dead bodies of the four Americans who died in the tragedy before the committee during a prime time memorial service. 'This is an outrage Mr. Chairman!' cried Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland. Mr. Cummings banged his fists several times and was sweating profusely as he called out the GOP majority for 'exploitation.' The Chairman, GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy, calmly informed Mr. Cummings that the vote would be taken after all members recited the Pledge of Allegiance. All members, including the Democrats, stood as ordered, but the Democrats, except one, promptly sat down during the voting. The measure passed 8-4 with one Democrat voting for the parade.
Republicans pounced on the vote quickly with a nationwide email blast seeking to raise funds, highlighting a picture of Mr. Cummings in full rant: 'This man and Obama don't even have the decency to stand for America #Benghazi' GOP sources say Mr. Cummings rant brought in their 2nd best day of fundraising since the Committee began its work. 'We hope he keeps talking!' said a senior GOP strategist. 'We were out of gas on ObamaCare, so this has been well executed as a replacement.'
Sources told Politico, however, that the best day of GOP fundraising came when the committee first covened and Rep. Henry Waxman, age 74, and the committee's ranking member, began pointing his finger at Chairman Gowdy, age 49, and repeatedly shouting 'This is a farce! This is a farce!' However Mr. Gowdy had misheard Mr. Waxman and said to the clerk 'The gentleman from California would like entered into the record 'This is a fart. This is a fart.''
Republicans quickly capitalized on Vine, with its biggest fundraiser of the year #ThisIsAFart videos raising millions for GOP candidates. Democrats have been eager to use the Benghazi hearings to fire up its own base, but have had much less success. 'Our people want to hear about jobs, wages, and ObamaCare, not Benghazi' said a senior Democratic operative close to the White House. Democrats are searching for ways to move past the Benghazi debate, but concede it is difficult now that they are immersed in the Committee's work. Asked about the Vine videos, Mr. Waxman replied 'Republicans are not being fair or mature. This whole thing is silly.'
