Two stories, two protests, two examples of how people are waking up to the threat that conservatives pose to our nation's future. The locations are almost as surprising as the topics.
If you don't think there is a threat posed by conservatives, just consider the following:
a. the GOP wants to politicize science funding. One can only imagine what the result will be.
b. Ben Ghazi will star in his own 6 month exclusive performance art solo. Subpoenas to follow.
c. Failure to expand or accept ACA will cause the deaths of thousands of poor, ill, and elderly.
d. Minimum wage hikes, which every reputable economist supports, are being held hostage by conservative cretins.
e. Climate change is a clear and present danger - unless you are palling around with Old Ben Ghazi Kanobe, in which case, there is no climate change. That 800 page report actually means something. Unless you watch Fox News.
More about the protests and future problems below:
Albuquirky New Mexico many be many things, but a hotbed of people powered protests? Not so much.
Misery in Missouri? Indeed.
One lesson we needed to learn from Occupy is how most of the movements were doomed to failure from the very start. Between high-handed police actions, spying and cell phone tracking by authorities, and worst of all, plants of undercover police who went all out to attack and arrest violent terror groups like Quaker preachers, we must realize that these tactics will be used again.
I have every hope that your average person will stand up and say "enough," especially to the likes of Rick Perry, the rabid governor of North Walkerstan, or Ron Scott, who should be in jail instead of the governor's mansion. But, when we do so, we need to tread carefully. There are some absolute rules we must follow, as well.
1. NO ACTS OF VIOLENCE. No threats, no plans, no room for some undercover mole to force us into acting against our own interests, or creating grounds for arrest.
2. Take precautions about cell and intertube use. Take it for granted that your cell and iPad will be tracked, that your conversations will be tapped, and that your emails and texts will be read. When and if electronic media are disrupted, have a back up plan to communicate and exchange data. Keep several avenues of getting news out that don't involve a phone or an ipad.
3. KNOW THE LAW. Despite the current crop of robes in the USSC, we still have certain constitutional protections. Most of the Bill of Rights remains intact, although it has taken several body blows. KNOW WHAT THOSE LIMITS ARE and do not be intimidated by Tasered, Maced, and armored thugs who claim to have a badge and a warrant. Most importantly, keep your elbows to yourself.
4. Be polite. Be nice. There is nothing as disarming as a smile, nothing as peace-inducing as saying "please" and "thank you" and nothing as effective as offering a hand in friendship and to render assistance. Turning the other cheek is particularly effective, especially since you have four of them. Use them all when necessary.
5. Be prepared for official acts that will astound, scare, and intimidate you. That's their whole purpose. See #4. See #3. and most importantly, See #1.
6. Sing. Dance. Be creative. Be human. No one can beat that out of you. Be smart, be aware of moles, and be brave.
