Nothing says "I'm competent" like waking up the day after you've defeated the House majority leader in a primary and
putting a muzzle on yourself because you need to come up with a media strategy:
The Brat campaign spent Tuesday [I think they meant Wednesday. -Jed] trying to formulate a new message, an effort that appeared in slight disarray. The campaign scheduled a press conference, then abruptly cancelled 30 minutes before it was scheduled to begin.
“Sorry, we’re kind of flying by the seat-of-our pants today,” a staffer said, explaining that the campaign decided to develop a media strategy before talking again to the press.
Yeah, I get that David Brat was probably as stunned as anyone else that he knocked off Eric Cantor, but it's not like he woke up today and discovered he was running for Congress for the very first time. Of course, the same can't be said for most of the voters in his district. And that probably explains why he's keeping his mouth shut.
