I've seen someone who gets HRed immediately scream "Censorship!" and "First Amendment!" so many times that I thought it'd be nice to make a brief yet handy-dandy response to such a complaint to which I can link. So this diary is mostly for my benefit, but anyone else who wants to use it, feel free.
Anyway, here it is.
First, this XKCD cartoon contains the essence of what I'm driving at. The title text is particularly apropos and I quote it often: "...Defending a position by citing free speech is sort of the ultimate concession; you're saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it's not literally illegal to express."
Second, free speech is not freedom from consequence, and neither is it an obligation on the part of any other private citizen, including and particularly Markos Moulitsas, to provide you a forum to express yourself.
So quit whining about your First Amendment rights when you post here because you are not entitled to say or do whatever you want here any more than I am entitled to walk into your home and take a whizz on your living room floor.
8:42 PM PT: Recommended? Really? For crying out loud people, I cranked this out in ten minutes. Is it a slow news day? Come on! Lawrence O'Donnell is finally back on the air after his near-fatal auto accident. That's worth a rec-list diary or five, not this trifle. By the way, I love you all. :)
