Yes, I used the word.
There is a group of hicktown barbarians, who in-between reminiscing about the good ole’ days before Social Security and the foundation of the EPA, have decided that they can do more to expedite the end of the world than by just simply voting for Republican candidates.
They have spent — in many cases over thousands of dollars — to modify their trucks to emit even more pollution than anyone thought to be possible.
How much pollution?
More details below the fold.
Rolling coal is a way to prove one’s macho-ness, and a new alternative to merely “flipping the bird”.
Someone driving too close to you? Roll them some coal.
Someone look at you the wrong way? Roll them some coal.
Someone driving a fuel efficient car, and well, fuck them for caring about the world? Roll them some coal.
Rolling coal is also a “political statement”. Slate.com published an anonymous testimony from someone who said: “I run into a lot of people that really don’t like Obama at all. If he’s into the environment, if he’s into this or that, we’re not. I hear a lot of that. To get a single stack on my truck—that’s my way of giving them the finger. You want clean air and a tiny carbon footprint? Well, screw you.”

This practice is so disgusting and vile, I can barely begin to talk about my objections to it. There is a world of difference between being a conservative who believes that the government should not be regulating the environment, and being someone who believes that they have the right to personally destroy the environment for their personal pleasure.
Now, I get it, we are all polluting one way or another. Most of us probably drive cars, and some of us may work in factories that pollutes. I don’t drive a Prius, but I also don’t spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to deliberately hurt the environment more. It is a waste. It is idiotic. And yes, it is un-American.
It is un-American to try to “spite” those damn “big city liberals” by shafting the planet that your kids will someday live on. What I find so unbelievably hysterical, is that these same people who are burning our planet alive, would spit on someone for burning a flag. I am not defending flag burning, but I am so tired of this culture of “love ‘murica patriotism” that pays lip service to American ideals and then fucking installs smokestacks on their car to pollute the planet which — like it or not — America is apart of.
I just can’t believe what is going through the heads of these people. I just cannot understand how willing they are to screw their kids, screw their neighbors, screw their planet, and then have the gall to turn around and call liberals like myself “unpatriotic” or “un-American” cuz of “SOCIALISM” or “OBAMA” or “WHO THE FLIP CARES WHY, I WILL JUST ROLL YOU SOME COAL BRO”.
I have absolutely nothing against professional truckers.
I have absolutely nothing against people who own trucks.
And I have nothing personal against people who are conservative and believe the government should back off regulating the government and let the free market handle it. (I think they are wrong, but I can respect their opinion).
But I have a severe personal animosity against people who gleefully pour contaminants in water supplies, who burn Styrofoam just for fun, and who install smokestacks on their trucks in order to pollute the world just a little more.
We are all citizens of the world -- citizens of our environment. By deliberately harming the environment just for "fun" we are hurting the planet we live on, and the country inside it. For that reason, "rolling coal" isn't just stupid -- it's downright un-American.
