There is a military conflict in Gaza, we all know that.
During this conflict Gaza, the people of Gaza, Hamas, Israel, the people of Israel, the government of Israel, the West Bank, the people of the West Bank, and the Palestinian National Authority have all been going backward.
That's what happens in military conflicts - it's all backward movement for everyone, even if one of them is 'The Winner'.
I am sure there will be some - on both sides - who will say 'We/They/It showed them.' or 'We/They/It showed them how powerful we/they/it are/is'.
Well, Fuck You.
It is human nature to want to go forward.
But before Gaza, Israel, and the West Bank can go forward, even if it's as slow as the movement of continents, they have to first stop going backward.
There is a way that this can happen.
There is a ceasefire proposal on the table.
It's not great but it's not terrible either.
It more or less seems to reset much of the situation back to how it was a month or so ago.
I hope Hamas will accept it.
There may have to be a few revisions to it first, this is all politics after all, and if there are, that's great, because the ceasefire needs to happen.
The backward movement has to stop.
Then after a period of no movement, hopefully things can start to go forward again, at whatever pace. That's not important, as long as it's forward.
Note: I am sure some jackass will want to write something like 'Hamas is a radical Islamic group, their natural direction is backward.'
To you I say a deep and heartfelt 'Fuck You'.
