The National Rifle Association (NRA) and its allies are going out of its way to not only openly oppose Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL) and "gun reform" agenda, but of late is attacking her on the introduction of H.R. 5093, the Children’s Firearm Marketing Act. The NRA and its allies have also resorted to ridiculing the bill and Kelly personally. Several days later, another NRA-ally followed suit. But Rep. Kelly stood strong because of the overwhelming support from "common sense" Americans.
By ridiculing Rep. Kelly, it takes the focus off the real issue. However, the above video produced by ESPN Sports makes no sense, as it shows a 13-year-old boy from Virginia trying to buy beer or cigarettes or racy magazines or even "scratch off lottery tickets." What this young boy learned was there was "no way" to purchase these items, but when it came to the purchase of firearms: "Way."
NRA condones the owning and possessing of lethal weapons by children, and drawing no line in the sand in its anything goes policies toward firearms.
Help Rep. Kelly and her "common sense" gun reform allies once again beat back the NRA and its allies by donating on Act Blue.
The issue is simply this: The NRA wants to allow gun manufacturers to continue its unfettered freedom to market firearms to the public, and now have aggressively moved toward the marketing of firearms to children.
It all makes sense for one simple reason: The NRA is an arm of the gun manufacturers.
Oh sure, the NRA claims to represent its membership and is an avid defender of the Second Amendment. Rep. Kelly is also an avid defender of the Second Amendment. The NRA deliberately misintrprets the U.S. Constitution to fulfill its real agenda which is maximizing profits for gun manufacturers.

Since Rep. Robin Kelly's election on April 9, 2103, she has been a tireless advocate for "gun reform" legislation. Just today, she stood with fellow lawmakers from the House and the Senate to support The Domestic Violence Gun Homicide Prevention Act, which would encourage states to remove firearms from domestic abusers.
Rep. Kelly said at the press conference, "I recently released the Kelly Report on Gun Violence in America, which found that the presence of a gun in a domestic dispute exponentially increases the likelihood of a fatal outcome. I'm a co-sponsor of this important legislation because it will help protect domestic violence victims and save lives."

The NRA and its allies don't like it one bit, as Rep. Kelly and many others are not begininng to drown out the one-sided conversation by the NRA.
The NRA and its monopoly as the "final word" on guns and the Second Amendment, coming to an end thanks to Rep. Robin Kelly's emergence on the national stage as an articulate national spokesperson for "common sense" gun reform.
"Watch us beat the odds again," said Kelly referring to her decisive victory on the night of her April 9, 2013 election victory. "Watch us take on the NRA, the Tea Party and anyone else standing in the way of our safety," She has kept her word.
Rep. Kelly has set off the NRA and its dedicated group of gun rights advocates, angered at her introduction of H.R. 5093, Children’s Firearm Marketing Act. The bill prohibits the marketing of firearms to children.
National Rifle Association supports the marketing and sale of firearms to children, as this ad shows.
H.R. 5093 would permit the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to regulate guns as a consumer product and determine what constitutes marketing firearms to children. The bill would also allow the FTC or CPSC to work with states attorneys general to enforce the ban.
Under the proposed bill, firearms would be treated as any other consumer product, with special attention on protecting the children. For example, baby car seats are under the regulations of the FTC and the CPSC. The same jurisdiction applies to toys that are considered unsafe for children.
Incredibly, the NRA and its misguided allies, who are controlled by "gun manufacturers," oppose Rep. Kelly's proposal. In doing so, they also oppose protecting and keeping our children safe.
The latest salvo against Rep. Kelly's support of H.R, 5093 comes from Ammoland.com, which used an unflattering photo of her attempting to depict her as the "mad person," a clearly ironic depiction. The lame attempt to link Rep. Kelly with some of her predecessors is irrelevant and an attempt to change the subject, since she is one of the most dedicated and hard-working members of Congress, whose integrity is beyond reproach.
The piece in Ammoland.com takes particular exception to "The 2014 Kelly Report on Gun Violence in America," (also known as the "Kelly Report"). The gun rights group makes clear it opposes "common sense" gun reforms, such as "Universal Background Checks" and the "Federal Assault Weapons Ban."
The NRA is a lobbying organization that claims to defend the Second Amendment and the rights of gun owners, but in reality is in the business of representing and promoting "gun manufacturers." TheBlaze.com took issue yesterday with Rep. Robin Kelly's (D-IL) introduction of a bill to force companies to stop marketing firearms to children.
Rep. Kelly responded to the years of the NRA sponsoring of the marketing and selling firearms to children. Rep. Kelly introduced H.R. 5093, The Children’s Firearm Marketing Act. The proposed law prohibits the marketing of firearms to children and teens, as is the law as it relates to the marketing and sales of tobacco products. The United States Surgeon General said in the 2014 report, "5.6 million of today’s children will ultimately die early from smoking if we do not do more to reduce current smoking rates."
"As a result of tobacco industry marketing and other influences, more than 3,200 children younger than the age of 18 smoke their first cigarette every day," reported the Surgeon General. Today, about half of all the children between ages 3 and 18 years in this country are exposed to cigarette smoke regularly, either at home or in places such as restaurants that still allow smoking.
Rep. Kelly sees the same damaging influence on children when it comes to firearms. In an email interview, Rep. Kelly said, "Much like manufacturers of tobacco products are prohibited from marketing their products to children, I believe there should be similar protections against the marketing of guns to children." Kelly added, "When you have gun companies making pink and zebra-striped guns or using cartoon characters to sell guns, you run the risk of children mistaking real firearms for toy guns with dangerous consequences."
Rep. Kelly addressed the issue of protecting children from gun violence. Not all gun violence is intentional, but accidental. Not surprisingly, "The 2014 Kelly Report on Gun Violence in America," (also known as the "Kelly Report"), showed that children are at a higher rate of risk when guns are in the home. The "Kelly Report," which is the first-ever Congressional analysis of the nation’s gun violence epidemic that offers a blueprint for ending the violence with guns crisis in America, addressed the issue over and over again.
