Brilliant Idea.
The downloadable application (.pdf) to attend the seminar on Oct. 24, promises “OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING — YOU CAN WIN WITH THE MEDIA,” with an overview of do’s and don’ts including, “Meet the 900-Pound Gorilla” and “Feeding the Animals.”
The application begins by stating, “The shooting death of a black teenager by a white police officer on August 9th in Ferguson, Missouri and the events that followed were tragic. In addition to the Ferguson case study, this fast-paced class is jam-packed with the essential strategies and tactics, skills and techniques that will help you WIN WITH THE MEDIA!”
Apparently "go f - - k yourself" and "I'll f - - king kill you" aren't the BEST things to say to the media.
So the Fuzz needs some training in manipulating the media more better.
The flyer promises the seminar will be more than just educational, adding, “The training is also highly entertaining : numerous video clips illustrate key points, and there is NO PowerPoint! You will learn a lot, and you’ll have fun doing it!”
Among topics to be discussed:
Meet the 900-Pound Gorilla
DWI and the Media
Feeding the Animals
“No comment” is a comment
Don’t Get Stuck on Stupid!
Managing Media Assault and Battery
Managing the Media When Things Get Ugly (think Ferguson)
Managing the Media in a Crisis (including lessons learned from the Newtown, CT school shooting.)
Some real gems in there tell me they aren't interested in anything like reforming the propensity of cops to create violence and chaos. It's about blaming others.
I suspect, based on everything I have seen hitherto, this will be one of many, many efforts to make sure the correct lessons are not learned and the essential corrective actions are not taken.
This is an effort to get the cops to control things MORE and not less, which is an essential goal of reforming the Out of Control Police State. They want to control the facts, the narrative and the legal outcomes.
This is directly akin to the GOP trying to explain itself better in order to have people accept their shitty plans or gun addicts "educating people" on guns. It is about making people accept something that is not in their best interests and is an effort to keep doing the wrong things.
They should be having their military toys removed from their grubby paws, they should be shutting up rather then trying to control more, and they should be encouraged to be less violent: the more they think they can control the facts and the narrative, the more people will die needlessly. The more things will NOT change for the better.
It is stunning the effort put into maintaining this violent status quo.
And they are already "Stuck on Stupid".
