In an interview with a local television station, an Oklahoma State Trooper noted that the best way for a woman not to be raped by a police officer is to "follow the law in the first place so you don't get pulled over."
That should make everyone feel safe, as the police never pull over people who are not breaking traffic laws.

He pointed out that for most stops it is acceptable for a woman to lock the doors and crack the window to talk to an officer. It is only under certain circumstances that a woman will be asked to leave the car.
After several high-profile police rapes in recent weeks, he said the police are working hard to regain the public's trust.
That makes my wife and me feel safe, as we are travelling to Oklahoma and Arkansas next month. (We did live in Oklahoma and were never pulled over. Presumably we weren't interesting enough.)
