Reknowned theologian and former 'Hercules' star Kevin Sorbo has been doing the RWNJ/Christian Fundie circuit lately, promoting his new film, God Is Not Dead, which may feature lots of guns, fast cars, naked women and cocaine...but probably not.
Sorbo, whose career flatlined years ago, has been keeping his name in the public eye by spouting deranged fundamentalist Christian nonsense, probably (and again, I'm guessing here) hoping to catch the eye of a Hollywood producer who likes that kind of thing.
Here's a tip, Kevin: Hollywood producers don't like that kind of thing. What kind of thing?
While appearing on Jerry Newcombe's "Vocal Point" radio program recently, Sorbo noted that Mel Gibson had created a lot more opportunities for Christian filmmakers in Hollywood with the success of his film "The Passion of the Christ," which made a lot of money despite concerns from Jewish leaders that the film was anti-Semitic.
Sorbo, for his part, does not really understand what Jews were so upset about.
"He got attacked when he was shooting 'The Passion' from the Jewish community, saying 'look at the way you're portraying us,'" Sorbo said. "News bulletin: you did kill Jesus!"
That kind of thing.
Dude, stick to rolling around town in a mini-skirt and sandals, waving a sword and flexing your pecs. It won't do any good because, let's face it: your career is deader than Vaudeville. But at least you won't look like such a clueless asshole.
