Scott Walker, notorious Republican Governor of the formerly fine State of Wisconsin, has used each of his elected offices as a launching platform towards his next goal. He used his re-election victory speech as well as his State of the State speech to all but announce his Presidential campaign. He's taken to bashing away at Hillary Clinton lately, too. His latest was
in response to questions about his foreign policy (in)experience:
“Well, I think the most important thing in foreign policy is leadership. The knock on (President Barack Obama) is not whether or not he had experience. I mean, Hillary Clinton had a lot of experience being the secretary of state, but you look at most of the places where she played a direct hand -- in Russia, in the Middle East, in other places around the world -- and it’s largely messed up right now."
And, cue his
departure for foreign soil to bump up his own resume.
The only thing standing in his way is the now stalled (under attack by multiple lawsuits) John Doe Probe into illegal coordination between his campaign and dark money groups. Since it was discovered, RW forces and dark money groups have worked feverishly to kill it. They're still at it, too.
A conservative group and its board member appealed to the nation's highest court Wednesday as they sought to end for good a stalled secret probe into Gov. Scott Walker's campaign and allied groups.
In the appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Wisconsin Club for Growth and its director, Eric O'Keefe, sought to overturn a September decision by the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, which threw out the conservatives' lawsuit and told them to pursue their claims through ongoing cases in state court.
They've got lawsuits going all over the place. State court, federal court, federal appeals court - you name it, Eric O'Keefe likely has a Shut Down the John Doe Probe somewhere clogging up the system. He claims that laws preventing coordination between his group (and others) with campaigns violate his free speech rights. Oh, the humanity!
The Wisconsin State Supreme Court can add this to the other 3 lawsuits on the John Doe Probe that they've scheduled hear this spring! The plethora of lawsuits is certainly creating jobs in the legal community. Maybe Scott Walker can count them twice to add to his awesome (not) job creation record here in Wisconsin (we're dead last in the Midwest despite Walkers claims to the contrary).
They definitely want this case in front of the Wisconsin State Supreme Court because they own uhhh have bought ummm purchased have a majority of the seats on the Supreme Court. And right now, the Republican controlled State Legislature is furiously trying to change laws that will rid themselves of that pesky liberal Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson either by forcing her to retire or upending the law that gives that position to the longest service Justice (since they control the majority of the seats they prefer the Chief Justice to be "elected" by the Justices themselves).
Ah, yes, we've got the Club for Growth trying to kill the John Doe and Americans for Prosperity trying to kill a public transportation plan. We're experiencing what it's like to live in an oligarchy in Wisconsin.
Dark money groups and their big fat wallets aren't just buying elections, they're controlling policy in largely Democratic cities, too.
Scott Walker is not wasting time while his minions do his dirty work for him. He's making remarkable numbers of appearances and speeches (except in Wisconsin). He's posturing like a candidate and bashing fellow contenders whenever possible. He's using official speeches to speak on national issues.
He's running despite his pre-election promises to serve his full term. No doubt about that. The only thing keeping him from announcing is that pesky John Doe and soon his pals on the State Supreme Court will shut that down for him. And maybe one of those federal courts will, too, by declaring that dark money groups are entitled to as much free speech as their money can buy.
That way he can coordinate freely with dark money groups as he tries to become President and not have to look over his shoulder.
