Ted Cruz looks for the billfold containing his soul
Brain explodes.
"Well, look, if Hillary Clinton wants to run by telling Americans that the economy is doing great and you can credit President Obama and Hillary Clinton for that, I would encourage her to follow that strategy. Because the simple reality is, that’s true for the wealthy," Cruz responded on ABC's "This Week."
"The top 1 percent under President Obama, the millionaires and billionaires that he constantly demagogued, earned a higher share for our income than any year since 1928," he continued. "Those with power and influence who walk the corridors of power of the Obama administration have gotten fat and happy under big government."
If I could stand next to Ted Cruz without asphyxiating from my own vomit, I would probably never stop slapping him.
Anyone remember this from so many moons ago, when President Obama brought up the need to figure out a way to support and grow the middle class? It was the State of the Union address in January.
The GOP responses provided shallow platitudes instead of engaging with the President on alternative middle-class policies. They did not provide concrete policies or suggestions that would provide the middle-class access to success. Their responses ignored the reality of a dramatically improving economy, a working Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), progress towards energy independence, a booming green energy sector, and an over-performing stock market.
This is a part of the Republican attempt to push through their tax cuts for the rich (
paid for by the middle class), and their tax breaks for the wealthy (
instead of for everyone else), and their all-around-
decades-long-terrible agenda. The one that only helps people who make enough money to float nincompoops like Ted Cruz.
The next few months you are going to begin reading teeth-grinding-inducing stories where Republicans say they are the champions of the 99%. Just remember one thing: you're not crazy. They are.
