In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a 10-year-old miniature Schnauzer named Sissy left home and walked 20 blocks and into a hospital lobby all by herself to find her human companion Nancy Franck. Franck, a cancer patient, was recovering from surgery and the visit took her
completely by surprise.
Franck told KWWL that she'd assumed her daughter, Sarah Wood, secretly dropped the dog off.
"I said, 'Did you sneak this dog in?' Sarah said, 'No, [Sissy] snuck herself in,'" Franck said. "Set the door off — she got in by herself, too. So, she was on a mission."
Franck
could hardly believe it.
"I didn't think they could do it," Nancy Franck said. "I thought dogs could find their way home, but this one found the hospital."
The Francks say Sissy has never run away from home, and couldn't have any idea that Nancy was at Mercy -- or even where Mercy was.
