America's Dumbest Congressman
has an idea.
During an appearance on yesterday’s edition of “Washington Watch,” Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, told host Tony Perkins that “we need to encourage this administration to go take out Iran’s nuclear capability” instead of pursuing negotiations: “I think it’s time to bomb Iran.”
Why now? No particular reason. Gohmert has likely just learned that all the important Republicans want to bomb Iran and wants in on that surefire path to base credibility. His theories on the subject are, of course, Gohmertian.
“I’m hoping and praying the president will realize, despite the agenda he has that has put Christians in jeopardy around the world, that he will not want to leave the Democratic Party so devastated that they won’t recover for many decades,” Gohmert continued, [absentmindedly chewing on one of his shoes.]
What agenda does Obama have that is putting Christians in jeopardy around the world? Not supporting Israel, because Israel wants to bomb Iran and so we should do that.
[...] “that maybe he’ll start being more helpful to Israel instead of slapping them around as an unwelcomed visitor and start treating them like a friend. And maybe once he starts doing that he’ll realize we do need to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities that we know of and anything that they move to fix, we bomb that as well.”
He also repeated the latest conservative conspiracy theory, which is that Obama threatened to attack Israeli warplanes if those Israeli planes tried to bomb Iran, another conspiracy theory supposing that Obama is demanding Nigeria legalizes same-sex marriage before America will help them fight Boko Haram, and he gushed over Benjamin Netanyahu's election-eve nixing of any two-state solution for reasons that Benjamin Netanyahu should probably be worried about.
“I’m just grateful that Netanyahu had announced there will be no two-state solution because, as you mentioned, [End Times author] Joel Rosenberg, he loves to point out in his favorite book, Joel, that Chapter 3, God says I am going to bring down judgment on nations that divide Israel. So I’d kind of hate to be a part of the nation that divides Israel,” he added.
The
End Times part being the clue that Louie Gohmert sees Israel as an important ally, true, but one that will have to be flattened into a post-nuclear wasteland in order to create the necessary runway for Jesus to fly his space-plane down and save the rest of us from the same fate. So Louie Gohmert is a "friend of Israel" in the same way that a lion is a "friend of that gazelle over there."
