This isn't what I forgot to post. I went ahead and posted that one to see what might happen. It looked to me like the few people who read it missed the point.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Ah, well - the point was probably more obscure than it seemed to me at the time.
It looks like we won't have to move the lab across campus after all, but I decided to go ahead with the clearing out I had planned, anyway. Paper cuts can be sooooo much fun.
I took the whole day off on Wednesday, when I had my teeth cleaned. Getting that done absolutely wipes me out, and I did spend much of the rest of the day napping.
Now, let's see - what else happened this past week. It's a rare thing, even at my salary, to be able to pay a bill the same day I receive it - but my gas and electric bills arrived on payday, so I managed the trick this month.
I also got night #3 of my vacation hotel paid.
My flight itinerary has been changed - one of the hazards of buying the tickets early. Now, instead of a direct flight out, I get to take an earlier wind-up plane to SeaTac and then go to Tucson from there. My firstborn is not going to enjoy having to get up at stupid o'clock of a Saturday to get me to the airport. The return flight is still direct from Phoenix, but scheduled a bit later.
An old friend of the family (87, and I've known her since I was 9) is back home after a stroke. She said that she can't walk, and that she had to re-learn how to talk, but she was perfectly coherent, and very glad to hear from me.
One of my college friends is back home from the stint in managed care PT after back surgery. I was just going to ask how her cats were treating her when her husband brought her lunch to her and she had to hang up. You know people that you can not be in touch with for years and it's like you're picking up in the middle of a conversation from yesterday when you do speak again? This woman is one of mine.
I believe I have mentioned this - probably many times - but the older I get, the more I appreciate how lucky I hit it in the genetic dice roll.
My granddaughter has another three inches to grow before she can stop using a booster seat in the car. She might make it before the end of this year. My grandson is grumpy about outgrowing his favorite shoes - but he's three, grumpy is his job.
