Peter Lee, (chinamatters.blobspot.com or @chinahand) currently connects up a long string of dots all the way from back in the Yugoslav War (1989) to the current problems in sorting out the territorial differences in the South China Sea and elsewhere. Personally, I think Lee is a little light in his coverage of the Vietnamese point-of-view - not to mention the Philappines, Japan and Taiwan points of view. After all, it's hardly the case that Vietnam has not clamored (even begged) for USA to support them against the rough and arrogant treatment that the PRC has unleashed on them for some time now. See, NYT and related YouTube -

Regardless of how you may view the ongoing rough and arrogant actions of the PRC, you don't want to miss Peter Lee's recent China Matters article on USA's rocket attack and total destruction of China's embassy in Belgrade in 1989.- as excellent as investigative journalism gets.
Nor do you want to miss Lee's coverage of the South China Sea stuff published in Asia Times - "Beijing’s South China Sea expansion: The salami slices back!"
Then there's the recent article at Unz Review by Eric Margolis on North Korea's claim to possess nuclear-armed submarines and related matters - "China's Plan to Lead the Globe"
Just hoping to stir up y'all into the right mood to enjoy the coming summer like there may not be another!
