This is still breaking and there is very little information yet, but a commercial bus rolled over on I5 near Woodburn Oregon. I live in Portland and at around 8:40 A.M. three waves of multiple sirens went screaming down SE 20th and turned West on Stark St. heading toward I5. Portland is 30 miles away from Woodburn, so if they are sending that many emergency vehicles from Portland it sounds like it is really bad.
ABC News via AP has only this
The Oregon State Patrol says a crash on Interstate 5 about 3 miles south of Woodburn has blocked all northbound lanes of traffic Saturday morning.
The patrol says there will be travel delays as emergency crews and troopers respond to a rollover involving a commercial bus.
Several passengers have been taken to local hospitals.
The crash was reported just after 8 a.m.
Woodburn is about 30 miles south of Portland.
I'll update this as more information becomes available.
Update 1: Salem's Statesman Journal reports that it is a Hut Portland Airport Shuttle.
Update 2: From The Oregonian
Two passengers and a driver aboard an otherwise empty airport shuttle bus were taken to a Salem-area hospital Saturday morning after the bus crashed through an Interstate 5 cable barrier, rolled onto its side and came to rest on grass next to the highway.
...
Frasier said the southbound bus appeared to have crashed through a median cable barrier and rolled in the northbound lane before coming to rest in a grass area next to the northbound lane.
"I didnt' see any other cars involved in the accident, which would be a miracle," Frasier said.
"There were a whole bunch of people stopped," Frasier said. "There were people sitting on the side looking dazed."
It does not sound as bad as I feared when I heard all the sirens pass by my place this morning, so I don't think I need to keep updating this.
10:30 AM PT: Last update:Here is a picture from KOIN. It is a miricle that this wasn't worse. The bus crashed the barrier in the middle of the highway, crossed the North bound lanes before rolling over. No other cars were involved in the accident
