OK, I've adjusted my "final" call for tonight upwards a bit, to an even 9.50 million nationally, 7.10 million via HC.gov...
—The HHS Dept's next "weekly snapshot" should have around 7.10M QHPs via HC.gov thru 1/16.
Here's an eye-opener:
--Tennessee: Eyebrow-Raiser: Insurance Co. leaves ACA exchange due to demand being too HIGH!
...three state-level updates...
—Michigan: ACA Medicaid expansion reaches 509K...likely tapped out.
--Minnesota: 43.4K QHPs, 54.4K Medicaid/MNCare to date
--Massachusetts: Bingo! 93.2K QHPs confirmed; 179K Medicaid, Payment rate appears to be 88%+
The Massachusetts report is significant because it's the most comprehensive "But How Many Have PAID???" data points available for 2015 so far (Rhode Island and Vermont have also provided some payment data as well, but MA's total is nearly twice that of both of those states combined).
Officially they're at 72% paid, but 20% of the total enrollments are for February coverage, not January, so it's conceivable that as many as 91% of the January enrollments have been paid in full by now. My guess is that it's more along the lines of...88% :)
And finally, I'm very honored to have made Dan Diamond's roundup of "2014's Best Healthcare Journalism".
