The DGA is coming to Louisiana, and that's very encouraging for John Bel Edwards' campaign. As NOLA.com points out, they didn't have a lot of faith in JBE actually winning:
The move signals that the national Democrats think Edwards might have a shot at besting U.S. David Vitter in the election held on Nov. 21. Political experts have previously said the association would only invest in Louisiana if they thought Edwards had legitimate shot at winning the race.
The numbers are most definitely in John Bel's favor. Senator Huggies was predicted to do much better in the Hunger Games-style open primary that we have here in Louisiana. Huggies got pounded hard by Republican opponents, to the point where his final tally was only 23% of the primary vote.
John Bel Edwards ran a solid campaign in the last month, but GOTV in key Democratic parishes (Caddo, Bossier, East Baton Rouge, and Orleans) was disappointing. Folks will make the usual excuses, such as threatening weather and an LSU home game last night, but the fact is, JBE's staff can use some help. Hopefully they take it.
