I haven't been very active lately but I wanted to pass the word that my partner is the hospital and we are trying very desperately to get him well. I came home Tuesday night to find him unresponsive but breathing, and he had aspirated bile.
I called 911 and they took him to the hospital (Harris Methodist in Fort Worth/downtown) and he has been in ICU since then. He's now out of sedation and speaking, but the short term "I don't knows" are really getting to me. He has no insurance, I've been unable to add him to mine since he has no SSN, and not sure how to proceed legally. We had a handfasting but it was before gay marriage was legalized. We get by financially but are by no means able to handle the bills that will be coming in and I am scared. The hospital is looking into emergency Medicaid and charity relief but I am not sure how that is going to work.
Please send your thoughts, prayers, goodwill and good vibes to us! With love, BlueInARedState (BIARS)
PS, sorry for the short diary, but I wanted to let everyone know ASAP.
7:58 AM PT: Quick update: I will be running errands and then at the hospital in a few hours for the remainder of the day, so I doubt I will be able to answer or monitor the comments, if any, until this evening. Thank you!
7:58 PM PT: Thank you all so much for the responses. They are putting him in a regular room after being in ICU most of the week, and he's improving by leaps and bounds. I can't respond at this point because I must get some sleep, but I will try and respond tomorrow or the next day. Sorry I can't do so earlier, I'm exhausted from being at the hospital and my phone just doesn't like this site. Thanks for all the well wishes, candles, advice, everything. - BIARS
