These are my thoughts. Agree or disagree, but use logic not slogans.
Fannie mae and freddie mac conservatorship
The US has singled out these housing finance companies, holding them hostage and sweeping profits from the table for too long. Other companies bailed out have been free and clear but in spite of having received more money than was put forward to bail out fannie and freddie, the US continues to hold them in conservatorship. Which is a misnomer. If you look up conservatorship, you get the following;
1. A person in charge of maintaining or restoring valuable items, as in a museum or library.
2. A protector or guardian: "a conservator of cherished values and regular order in governing institutions" (William Greider).
3. Law One placed in charge of the property or personal affairs of an incompetent person.
Taking all profits is not a step toward restoring or maintaining this valuable asset. Both financial firms are capable of providing the valuable service that the finance industry desperately needs, and if left unchecked, the US will either run them to ruin or have to provide another bail out if they have an off year.
