Saturn first entered Sagittarius on December 23, 2014 to June 14, 2015; re-entering Sagittarius on September 17th, and enters Capricorn on December 20, 2017. I don't agree on all points, but if you're interested in exploring further, here's a range of Saturn in Sagittarius perspectives: Lynn Koiner, Cafe Astrology, Darkstar Astrology, Daykeeper Journal.

I certainly agree with Aquarius Papers:
Those who have a mature spiritual view will find many opportunities to become the author of their own larger destiny, while others will break free of old binding spiritual attitudes and find a greater dance in a greater reality. Saturn in Scorpio may have been great for teaching us how to deal with corrosive or stuck emotional energy, but Saturn in Sagittarius calls us to a more mature understanding of truth, as well as more effective means of communicating that truth!
As I offered last December when Saturn first entered Sagittarius, because of the nature of Sagittarius, examine your expectancies, and try to see the humor and/or irony in life. This can help crystallize an entirely different view of what we expect, why we expect it, and how to fulfill those expectations. All done with humor and a sense of the absurd, of course! Welcome to Sagittarius!

This year, the Solstice, which always brings a change of energy from Yin to Yang, is marked by the Ringed Planet moving from a Fixed to Mutable sign, from Water to Fire. Think back to between November 16, 1985 and February 13, 1988—those dates bracket the last time that the Lord of Time and Karma was in Sagittarius. What was the big theme in your life back then? What did you learn the hard way? How did you grow up?
This diary is responding to a great question from
jan4insight:
So if the USA is Sagittarius rising, what do you think are the implications of Saturn's 2-year transit through Sag, which began in earnest when Saturn turned direct on Sept. 17 iirc.
Saturn is in Libra in the Tenth House on the July 4th, 1776 chart.
"Libra" comes from the
ancient Roman pound and it's represented as a set of scales in the zodiac ("a weighing up of matters",
The Poet's Ogam). Saturn is Exalted in Libra. [what's exaltation? think of a celebrity winning an award, when they're at home with no makeup then they're in their domicile, &c]
The Tenth House, described by Dane Rudhyar, represents your "contribution to society"—what you contribute is who you essentially are. I think Saturn in Libra puts "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" from the Declaration of Independence—the unalienable Rights—in the USA's tenth house. However, Rudhyar cautions:
If, Saturn being placed in your tenth house, you scatter your interests and seek ambitiously to expand "all over the map" instead of bringing your experiences in your public or professional life to a clear and steady focus of expression, then you may be headed for a fall — or at least you will not avoid the depressing feeling that you have failed in your God-appointed life task.
There's a sense of the
part,"We the People", and its connection to the
whole, "United States of America". Where these unalienable Rights (expressed by individuals) create a Nation. "Alas, often one finds oneself, as one is born, surrounded by social lies and personal fallacies." Then we're left with an imperfect union.
Saturn in Sagittarius in 1926-1929, 1956-1959 (some kossacks probably born during this period, like me), and 1985-1988, which may provide some clues on Saturn's current transit.
During the 2009-2017 Royal star transits: Saturn in Virgo when Fomalhaut changed degree in June 2009; Saturn (Exalted) in Libra when Regulus entered Virgo in November 2011; Saturn in Scorpio when Aldebaran changed degree October 2014; Saturn (Domicile) will be in Sagittarius when Antares changes degree in March 2017, and then returns to its ruling sign: Capricorn in December 2017. If the Aldebaran-Antares axis are the reference marks of the zodiac, could Saturn's positioning during the Royal stars changing degree indicate something similar? If so what?
I'm thinking: free my rights, the nation will follow. The United States, if it truly is a Sagittarius rising nation, must find out who it really is and then, and only then, can it contribute to society.
