Here is v0.2 of the style sheet (Chrome version | Firefox version) I’ve created based on suggestions others have made here since the DK5 release. For now, I am limiting the style changes to apply only to comments and the right sidebar on the main page, so the post/comment editor and blog post content should not be affected by any of the style overrides.
To use these styles (these instructions are for Chrome but should be similar for other browsers):
- Install the Stylish extension for Chrome (plug-ins for Firefox, Opera, and Safari also available at the linked site)
- Navigate to dailykos.com
- Click the Stylish icon (White “S” to the right of the URL bar)
- Click on “Write style for: www.dailykos.com”
- Paste the content of my style sheet into the large text area.
- Provide a name for the style sheet in the top left field
- Click the Save button
This release builds on the style overrides described in my earlier blog post.
What’s New:
- Firefox-specific version which limits style sheet overrides only to dailykos.com
- Arrow between comment author and parent comment author (I added this as an update to v0.1)
- More space between paragraphs (no need to double CR between paras)
- Same font size and color for bulleted/numbered list as rest of comment text
- Less padding inside of block quotes
- Increased the size of comment action button icons and text (Reply/Recommend/Flag)
Elizaveta raised a great point in the comments in the previous blog post: I have no way of knowing how the style sheet will interact with future changes to the site CSS made by the dailykos staff. I recommend disabling these styles once in a while to make sure you are not missing any of the official changes.
If there is anything you would like to see added or changed in the style sheet, please let me know. Thanks!
