During the last week of October 2015, the nonviolent "idea" called
Anonymous released a press release stating they would be revealing the identities of
1,000 KKK/Ku Klux Klan members. Social media went ablaze. Then, the last day of October on Halloween night, Anonymous released
a video that extended the earlier press release. The new message encouraged the United States government to better safeguard their citizens from the KKK. The white supremacist hate group has targeted and terrorized people of different color, religion, and nationality—for decades. The new message also encouraged the "Ferguson freedom fighter" to stay the course, and for the public to "lawfully" get involved in this particular operation.
This is not the first time Anonymous has gone after the KKK and they have made it quite clear they are serious about taking down the KKK. Last year, they released the names of approximately 100 KKKK members, some of whom have left the "Klan." Five KKK members, who apparently don't mind having their identities revealed, are included in this video posted on July 23, 2015, by Anon CopWatch. The Klan members Richard and Linda Hafley and John and Heather Michaels share their disgust about Anonymous and the whole #OpKKK and #HoodsOff situation.
"What's sad about it is we lost some good (KKK) members on account of their idol threats," said Linda Hafley.
"They're nothing but a bunch of scumbags," said KKK member, Richard Hafley, speaking of anons (Anonymous 'members'). "That's the way I see 'em. They got in and they hacked our website, and it was down, I mean we couldn't - they shut us completely down and we had to, uh, fix it to where they couldn't get in it no more. Sooner or later, they're all gonna meet their fate."
KKK members John Michaels and his wife hung up their hoods, reportedly because of their three children. Anonymous did not actually show/name the Michaels' children, but it was enough for John and Heather Michaels to leave the Klan. Angry and bitter, John Michaels said:
"It's just a bunch, a group of, uh, anarchists - they're communists. Just like in China, just like in Russia - anarchists."
"There will be repercussions. I'm speaking for the white man and the white race."
No mention is made by either couple of the many atrocious and vicious crimes committed by the KKK, one being the
murder of four very young black girls via a church explosion in 1963. Two more black youths were murdered that same night. Many KKK members not only took claim to the murders, they also seemed damn proud of it.
It's been reported Anonymous
may release all 1,000 KKK identities sometime in November. Anonymous claims they are not out to take away
KKK's freedom of speech.
"You are allowed to speak and in kind, we are allowed to respond. You are legally free to live and be any which way you choose to live and be. Keep in mind; it is not illegal nor oppressive to hurt your feelings. With that said – We are stripping you of your anonymity. Again. This is our protected speech."
"You are abhorrent. Criminal. You are more than extremists. You are more than a hate group. You operate much more like terrorists and you should be recognized as such. You are terrorists that hide your identities beneath sheets and infiltrate society on every level. The privacy of the Ku Klux Klan no longer exists in cyberspace."
