My wife, sister-in-law, and I went to breakfast after a very moving Veterans’ Day tribute to our lost heroes. My late father-in-law died at 96.5, In WWII, he had landed on Normandy Beach, and then worked his way through Europe, finally liberating Bergen-Belsen, one of the Death Camps.
As we waited for a table, an old Vet walked out, turned and faced the entire dining area. He began with, ”You must vote this time! Anybody with less than (a salary of) $40,000 must vote. I’ve been a life-long Republican, and they disgust me!”
You could hear a pin drop, or an artery hardening, but not a word from the assembled diners.
What’s remarkable about this, other than the obvious, is the location: Central Florida, which is inhabited by way too many Republicans. Now, they’re all going home to tell this story to their friends and family, and it will be repeated, and repeated, and maybe Florida will wake up to the fact that the worst enemy of this state, and all others in fact, is the Republican Party and their leaders.
