Alabama’s attempt to cut off Planned Parenthood backfires

Robert Bentley rode a tidal wave into office this past fall. He is sane and sober by Republican standards, these days. He’s gotten flack for being “liberal” by Republican standards and so he has been doubling down. No to refugees! Yes to allegedly morally compromising extra-marital affairs! No to Planned Parenthood! About that Planned Parenthood stance:

Alabama is ending its effort to cut off Medicaid funds to Planned Parenthood clinics after losing in federal court.

Planned Parenthood sued Alabama after Governor Bentley tried to cut funds. Fiscally conservative Republicans, right?

In the settlement, the state agrees to pay Planned Parenthood's lawyers $51,000 in legal fees. That's about nine times the amount of Medicaid dollars that have gone to the Alabama clinics in the last two years.

So, helped no one and lost your state time and money. Well played, Alabama Republicans.
