I have been waiting for this movie for so long. 32 years, since I was a 12 year old girl who loved Sci Fi while everyone else loved Michael Jackson and Flashdance. My wait was over last night but all did not go as planned.
I bought my tickets weeks ago on Fandango (it was the only site that didn’t crash when tickets were made available). Since I’m alone I bought just one ticket. My ticket clearly stated “no need to go to the box office, just go to the ticket taker” Well after waiting in line for 6 hours in the cold, and already asking 2 employees if my printout was sufficient and being told yes, I get to the ticket taker and was refused admittance, and had to go to guest services to get a “real ticket.”
I was livid! I had been about #20 in a line of 100’s, and now I would lose out on a good seat. After getting my “real ticket” the ticket taker refused to let me in until “everyone who’d been waiting in line for hours got in first” I almost lunged at him, telling him “I HAD been waiting in line with everyone else, near the front!” He refused until the last of the people from the line got in. Sure enough, I get back and most of the good seats were taken and the others were employing the coat/purse claim method. I was even more livid!
What should I do? The AMC Burbank 16 website isn’t clear about complaints. I think Yelp would be a complete waste of time. I want satisfaction. Guest services said I needed the employees names that told me the wrong info, like anyone looks at their name tags. How can I get to the top? How can I get corporate to hear my complaint? Is this Fandango’s fault? AMC? Am I just a dumb gal who should’ve have foreseen?
My long awaited Star Wars experience was only alleviated by a fantastic movie.
End of Rant!
