It isn’t about the debate schedule, by its self. Many times these sorts of issues are not one dimensional. Its not about the number of debates. The issue here is about debates that are held well into primary season, the 5th debate is February 11th, after Iowa and New Hampshire. The 6th debate is March 9th, at which point 21 states will have voted. This obviously favors a candidate with good name recognition.
Westchester 4 Bernie’s first Overpass Light Brigade for Bernie event. In the Bronx, the Major Deegan Expressway is in the background.
And in my home state of NY, the deadline to switch party affiliation was October 9th 2015. 25 weeks before the April 19th primary. So any Working Families Party member, or an Independent who watched the first Democratic debate on October 13th and liked Bernie and wanted to vote for him in the NY primary. Was. out. of. luck. IMHO the entire process is tailored for Hillary. In Westchester County NY there are about 127,000 unaffiliated voters, all of them are potentially disenfranchised by an archane rule. In most states one can switch party affiliation up to about 30 days before a primary.
Barry and I at the Chappaqua Train Station. Westchester 4 Bernie in action. Together we handed out about 120 Bernie Flyers in 2 hours.
By December 14th, 2007 there had been 14 Democrat debates and 2 forums and not one single vote had been cast and wouldn’t be until the Iowa Caucuses on January 3rd 2008. In 2007 NY state’s deadline to switch party affiliation is moot.
Whether you’re going to defend DWS or you’re a critic of DWS, the least you could do is be factual.
IMHO opinion, she should keep her job. Shes doing just fine.
